Northern Ireland's football team manager, Michael O'Neill, has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

He was detained by police on the outskirts of Edinburgh on Sunday.

Police Scotland said they arrested and charged a 48-year-old man in connection with drink-driving eastbound on the A720 at about 12.55 BST on Sunday.

He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff's Court on 10 October, two days after Northern Ireland's final World Cup qualifier match against Norway.

In a statement, the Irish Football Association (IFA) said it was "aware of an alleged drink-driving incident involving Michael O'Neill".

The IFA added that it was a "police matter" and would make no further comment, after the story first appeared in the Scottish Sun.

Mr O'Neill became manager of the Northern Ireland international football team in February 2012.

He has enjoyed considerable success during his five-and-a-half-year tenure, guiding the team to their first ever European Championship finals last year.

Under his leadership, Northern Ireland made it through to the last 16.

So im just curious why you lot refer to it as Drink driving? Over here its Drunk driving, which is we have a set legal limit hence the drunk part, although said limit varies province to province and state to state in the US if im not mistaken.

Probably just a technicality and just what's caught on here.

Grammatically, you don't have to be drunk to be caught here. There's one generic limit here in UK. 35 milligrams alcohol for every 100 in your body.

Get caught over that, depending on severity, you can be fined, points on your license, license stripped or prison sentence.

Thats actually pretty funny. We've got so many bike lanes in downtown Vancouver but there is no rules for such a thing its kind of a grey area as far as following road signs and such even. I know people that take their bikes to the bar often and get loaded.

Yeah okay just basically Grammatically different as you say, the penalties are more or less the same.

Well I find it very strange laws here also, that cyclists are fined also for a number of things for even riding with no hands on the bars xD     buts its ok to smoke smack while getting it on with some south american sex slave :dam:
