It’s not exactly Coleman’s fault, in fairness. Ellis Short is the cancer at Sunderland and till he’s gone, they’ll continue to slide. 

For people who are described, along with Geordies, as some of the most passionate around, it’s a surprise that no real protests have happened at the Stadium of Light yet.

I usually associate Geordies with the label  'the most passionate around'. Never really heard it about Sunderland fans?

I know it's tempting to say that the squad is shit, the club is a disaster, and that it's an impossible job, but there are a few shit squads in the championship, and some of them are playing quite well.

Coleman knew before he went that his job was going to be moulding the shit into at least a mildly functional unit.
