  2. Setien new Betis Coach New Real Betis Coach Quique Setien has promised the club he will maintain his attacking and possession philosophies as he was unveiled by the club. The 58-year-old was appointed on a three-year deal by Los Verdiblancos having left Las Palmas and added Dani Ceballos, Ruben Castro and Antonio Adan will all have important roles in his team. "Everyone knows who I am, how I see the game," Setien told his unveiling press conference. “You all know my philosophy of playing the game with the ball, of keeping possession and to forge close relationships with my players to help in this regard. "I don't think it is going to take much for me to convince them regarding my proposal for playing the game, we want to grow gradually in one direction. “When I arrived at Lugo, in the third tier, they said that they couldn't play football which is something I had to address immediately. “I make this promise to Beticos that this will be the case with our club, I guarantee attacking, possession-based football. “I don’t want to make any promises in terms of achievements for next year but this is a big club who need to be ambitious. “By signing a three-year deal here it gives security for the players, for me and for the club – it benefits everyone. “I see Dani Ceballos as a ‘benchmark’ player, we can build a team around him, as for Antonio Adan and Ruben Castro – I want them both to play big roles here. “In terms of transfers and how we will form our squad, there will be a consensus between me and the sports management "What I must do is to thank the President, the sporting director for the fact that I have been given this wonderful opportunity.” https://www.football-espana.net/64295/setien-promises-betis-attacking-football Hopefully Setién's arrival can re-vitalise Betis. I've always preferred them over Sevilla, and they have one of the most passionate fanbases in Spain. He has had a good track record, getting Lugo promoted to the 2nd tier and keeping them there. With Las Palmas he led them to a mid-table finish last year, and they made a good start this season and were briefly threatening to challenge for Europa League qualification. But amidst his constant disputes with the board, he announced a couple of months ago that he was leaving, and their form dropped sharply with them picking up just 1 point from their last 7 games. To me he is one of the most intriguing coaches in Europe, and his Las Palmas team generally played fluid attacking football and were a lot of fun to watch.

  3. Casemiro has his flaws but there's no doubt he's essential for that team given the gaps and holes that can appear when Real Madrid lose the ball. He is however becoming increasingly more reckless in the tackle as time goes by and that puts me off him as a player. I think they could make good use of Marcos Llorente next season, he's much better technically than Casemiro and has the potential to become a big part of this Real Madrid team in the future. Modric, Kroos, Llorente, Isco all in the same team, that's class. I'd like to think they'd slowly integrate Llorente in next season as certain games suit Casemiro and others don't.

  4. Indeed... He is in love with energy sapping sports and triathlons are his big love and competes on a world stage (or used to before he took on head coaching at the top level)... Even on summer holidays while he's been head coach at Barcelona he's done high altitude mountain climbing in the Pyrenees, Alps and in South America. But this particular job he's been involved in has really drained him out and it wasn't so long ago I posted two sets of pictures with how both Guardiola and Luis Enrique looked physically before they took on the Barça job and how they both looked on their final days... The difference is striking and you can almost feel the exhaustion yourself when you take it all into account. But both were allowed to call it a day themselves where as at another club coaches have been sacked while winning major tournaments. It's not a mark of expectations but rather a mark of respect because the expectations at both the clubs I'm referring to are exactly the same. Understanding you can't win them all because the competition is so extreme is the basis of being able to award the merited respect. Few legends at Barça have been forced to depart through the back door! As for Luis Enrique's future... Well he hates the press so much that I'm not sure if he will ever return to football. That's Luis Enrique's major weak point that his distrust for them leads him to go through a personal hell and you can see it in his face during every single pre or post match press conference... He thinks before answering any type of question like he's searching to see if there's some sort of trap laid in front of him to produce a headline he never meant or believed in. In saying this, if he were ever to contemplate coaching Sporting Gijón (his greatest football love of all), then the pressure wouldn't be anywhere as big as the one he's encountered at Barça 'B', AS Roma, Celta Vigo or FC Barcelona... But then again, because he's so suspicious of the press even then I'd reckon he'd somehow coax himself into believing they're out to get him in some way. hahaha. He's a tremendous character to be honest and there's a saying for his type of person in Spanish which goes; "No se casa con nadie" (He doesn't marry anyone) which in English sounds ridiculous but what it actually means is that there's no favouritism with him no matter who you are or what he actually thinks of you on the whole. He can think you're the god of whatever you like but first and foremost you must always be giving your all in absolutely everything you do so as to earn his respect... Even then, he ain't wishing you a good morning when you walk past him any given day. He's a grumpy so and so because he feels that there's always work to do. Aleix Vidal who was a 100% Luis Enrique signing found all of this out much to his detriment and when the right-back finally won Luis Enrique's trust and understood what his coach was asking of him, he unfortunately got a serious knee injury... He's had wars with Neymar, Mascherano, Xavi, Vidal, Rakitić, Dani Alves, Piqué, Suárez and even god forbid, Lionel Messi. In every single one of those cases Luis Enrique was right and a massive change was observed in all of those characters.

  5. Vor Frelsers Kirke in Christianshavn, in the south of Copenhagen. Me and some pals are trying to do some touristy stuff when we get time, since the semester's almost over. It's a beautiful view in all directions, it's worth the climb through some very narrow and steep passages inside the tower. Once is enough, though.

  6. THANK YOU LUCHO FOR 3 GLORIOUS YEARS He was already a Barça legend before he returned as head coach, but now he has made himself immortal. A much loved character that has always given 100% as a player and subsequently as the director of the orchestra. Not bad going with 9 out of 13 trophies available for him to win. 2 x La Liga Titles 3 x Copa del Rey 1 x UEFA Champions League 1 x FIFA Club World Cup 1 x UEFA European Super Cup 1 x Supercopa de España His games ratio as head coach is also extremely impressive 181 Games 138 Victories 22 Draws 21 Defeats 519 Goals in favour 150 Goals against Thanks for everything Lucho!

  9. Love it. Not the bid but Usmanov saying Wenger should pick the next manager because they need continuity. I seem to recall an old red nosed cunt picking a cod's heed to replace him at one of the Manchester clubs for continuity and stability purposes.
