Thank you all! That's a result I surely didn't expect before the match. The most surprising part is the win wasn't completely undeserved the way the match went. Of corse Bayern were the dominant team, stil Saarbrücken defended well, so Bayern hadn't that many opportunities to score I felt. Am aware I'm biased, however.2 points

Translation: Brazen and cynical: ELN says it did not know that they themselves had kidnapped Luis Díaz's father. They assure that they will ask for his release now. ELN: "Well done boys, good process."1 point

I've just been looking at Cartagena v Leganes. I'm completely baffled. How the actual fuck are Cartagena considered favourites? It's one of them that's 'so' daft it scares me going near it.1 point

You have never seen a prince Devitt match though. You have seen Fin Balor matches. A 40 year old, collecting a pay check, who still does a certain in ring things a class above Ospreay. Fin in NJPW was brilliant. He has only occasionally brushed those heights in WWE. Now, Ospreay wrestles some brilliant matches too, but he also wrestles silly spot fests. He is big, and athletic. But don't mistake being able to do a saske special and a handspring back elbow for being a good wrestler. Look at the Bucks, ratings poison for years now, because despite the fact they are capable of wrestling good matches, they dont, they cut bad corny promos, and they look like crap, their gimmick is crap and no one is around to say 'no'.1 point

Forcibly removing people from a region they're living in is ethnic cleansing. Genocide's not a gaslight term - there's a definition from UN from the convention on the prevention and punishment of the crime of genocide. Population percentage has fuck all to do with what constitutes genocide - and that's a fact. Under international law, you've got genocide when: any of the following acts are committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: a.) killing members of the group; b.) causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; c.) deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; d.) imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; e.) forcibly transferring children of the group to another group. So just like Russia in Ukraine, both Hamas and Israel pretty clearly fit the definition of genocidal actors in the eyes of the UN. Honestly, historical title to the land means fuck all. The Canaanites and Phoenicians don't exist anymore. Both Arabs and Mizrahi Jews can claim Canaanite and Phoenician ancestry. History doesn't justify the Nakba or the erosion of Palestinian lands and rights. History doesn't justify Hamas's terrorism. It's very much a conflict of land, that is egged on by zealots in the region to turn it into something of a holy war. Israel hasn't made attempts at making a lasting meaningful peace since 1995 when Rabin was assassinated by an extremist Israeli. They aren't blameless in this. They're just as not serious about a peaceful resolution to the conflict as Palestinian leadership is. Ordinary Israelis and Palestinians are the victims of decades of leadership that's had no interest in creating peace. A lot of blood is on the Palestinian and Israeli leaderships hands.1 point

Congrats @Rucksackfranzose definitely bittersweet for me but enjoy, full value for it really. It was a disaster that was unfortunately in the back of my mind the entire time given the look of the schedule. Still shouldnt happen with the talent available tbh and theres literally no excuse for Kane being on the bench the entire time, speechless idk. De Ligt injured again.. this is just disaster all round.1 point

@Rucksackfranzose oh my fucking god! Congratulations! I cheered so loudly when Saabrücken scored the winner, and sweated buckets when that referee didn't want to end the game. Oh my word.1 point

I think rockets have been fired into Israel pretty regularly since October 7th - but there's far less casualties because Israel's got pretty effective defenses against Hamas rockets. They also haven't been the same sort of barrages that were used when Hamas attacked. Occasionally one gets through and there'll be a small number of casualties. It's not going to grab the same headlines as the obliteration of Gaza. But both Hamas and Israel are purposely firing into where they know civilians are and they're both fucking arseholes for doing so. I think it's a bit fucked too, the head of Hamas from the safety of his penthouse in Qatar saying that Palestinian civilians in Gaza aren't Hamas's responsibility, they're the UN and Israel's problem.1 point

WEEK 13 - LUCKY FOR SOME Halloween has arrived on the supposedly unlucky numbered week, but you wouldn't know it looking at the league table here as we post our best week of the season, a third straight profit on the board overall, the first week where four players bag a win and remarkably, even both people called Dan winning. It didn't quite start off so luckily though. @Pyfish came close to making it a hattrick of brilliant wins after landing a very impressive pick of Dortmund to win at Newcastle, but he couldn't overcome the Brendan Rodgers juju in the supposedly easier leg of the bet as Atletico Madrid falter on the road in the Champions League yet again. @Machado back to winning ways with his latest in what looks a carefully selected pair of stats based picks, although the Benfica pick can only possibly be due to some cynicism at his end on his own team. He was correct to have it though. I paid the price on an accumulator for trusting Benfica to win myself as I had them with under 4.5 goals - but they couldn't even hold on late on. @Stan also paid the price as this let down his bet, after correctly landing Bayern to win and over 3.5 goals in a hilarious game that saw 3 first half red cards and Bayern hitting 8 goals in the second half. @CaaC (John) should be donating his winnings to a certain somebody who reminded him to get a bet in for this week as his Italian double paid out to continue his relative hot streak. Atalanta smacking a woeful Empoli 0-3 but Lazio needing a 95th minute penalty to beat Fiorentina, to put him back into profit for the season. @Lucas is let down by Accrington who lost 0-1 to Colchester after correctly backing Chesterfield to win for an 11th time in 12 games (they're very generous odds considering in my opinion). @RandoEFC's usual asian handicap falls down this week. Juventus left it until the 97th minute to beat Verona to push all responsibility onto Brighton who didn't even beat Fulham, so it's a loss this time around. You have to feel here for @...Dan who gets his first win of the season at the tenth time of asking yet is still sent to the bottom of the table for the first time all season. He played safe this week and Manchester City made no mistake. Stop the world though. I've finally, finally won a bet. About pissing time too. I was wondering after how utterly perfectly my Hoffenheim pick landed that Manchester City would find a way to fuck it up, or somehow rack up the goals in injury time, but no, persistence pays off and I'm off the mark with what is the second biggest win of the entire season. I bet a lot and I think that's pretty obvious by now, and I'm back in hot form in the real thing too, so I did believe it would arrive here eventually. I'm hoping we won't have to wait the same amount of time for another - as that would take me all the way to the end of January, for some context. It's a very strong week on the whole though, and while a big win in each of the last three weeks has helped prop things up, the numbers are starting to really shift in favour of the forum now. The last three weeks have been the best three of the season, so October has been a hot streak collectively. WEEK 13 STATS Winning bets: 4/8 Winning selections: 10/14 Weekly forum position: +£67.48 (Ranked 1/13) OVERALL STATS Winning bets: 25/94 Winning selections: 84/176 Total forum position: -£131.251 point
