Chelsea about to make a £50,000,000 offer on Cucurella.5 points

Watched it out so don't know what the prevailing narratives and opinions are but my take on the game is as follows. Both teams and the game started off pretty well but then fizzled out into a bit of a non-event of a first half. Spain looked more like they had a clue what they were doing when they carried the ball into the attacking third but didn't really create anything. Second half, Spain were pretty much in control for most of it, didn't sit on their lead and could easily have killed it off with a second. Instead another moment of quality from England draws it level. Again I was left thinking how lucky this manager is. Based on the moments England players have produced to keep them in the tournament, they probably could have got this far with Rishi Sunak managing them. Spain obviously reestablished themselves after England equalised and went on to take a deserved win. Spain were the best team in the opening set of fixtures and remained so throughout. Germany were the only ones who got close and really that quarter final between them should have been the final. I don't think I've ever seen so many "big" countries perform so poorly at a major tournament. England, France, Italy, Portugal and Belgium were all pretty shite. Netherlands had their moments but were disappointing overall too. Spain thoroughly deserve the trophy as the only team who looked like they were really used to playing as a cohesive unit and not just "keeping it tight" and hoping their star players produce a moment to decide the game. That takes me on to England. The performance against the Netherlands was the only one that probably met expectations overall. The rest was pretty much crap performances bailed out by an individual moment of quality. That's usually enough to get you to a quarter final or a semi final before you get found out. On this occasion, thanks to a combination of how the draw panned out and a lack of actually good teams to get drawn against, it got England to the final before their luck ran out. You won't see another final with the performance England served up in the tournament overall. I think this might be the worst possible outcome for the team to be honest because it leaves them without a trophy again, but it's enough to see Southgate get given World Cup 2026 as well and he's just a bad manager. Why is he a bad manager? We've just spent the entire tournament watching Kane, Foden and Bellingham look painfully ineffective compared to what we all know they're capable of. He changed the entire approach mid-tournament. I don't think any England player can come out of that tournament rated higher than a 7/10 and I don't think you could even go that high with any of the attacking players. You can't be given that much talent and not find a way of playing that gets near the best out of at least a couple of them. Overall, I'm actually glad that tournament is over now. Group stages were class. The knockouts went on too long and the majority of those games were pretty turgid. Made me look forward to having the domestic season back at least.3 points

I was about to make a reply but I'm not bothering now. I have better things to do with my Sunday. When people are posting conspiracy theories and in the next breath accusing people with mild suspicions of being conspiracy theorists I'm afraid I'm just going to have to say believe what you want and have a nice day.3 points

It's a song about defeating a nation that killed millions of people. I think Germany getting a song sung about them is getting off quite lightly to be honest considering the horrors it inflicted in the First and Second World War.3 points

Republicans crying now about polarisation leading to violence is through the looking glass stuff. Your guy launched a radicalised meat shield at the government when he didn't like losing the election lads. As many others have said, it's a shame that the people calling this a tragedy for the country are unable to find the same energy when these weapons are pointed at children or school teachers.3 points

Yeah, it's honestly annoying. But I also checked the Kicker fantasy games, and they haven't started yet either, so I think we just have to be patient and wait until they update it properly. I think probably after the Euros2 points

Alright, so here we go... The new fantasy Bundesliga game for the upcoming season is here! Website: https://fantasy.bundesliga.de/ TF365 league: https://fantasy.bundesliga.com/invitations/league_invite/C8RA7Y This time, we are going with the official fantasy game of Bundesliga, so the rules are slightly different, but I think it will be easier for everyone, and it doesn't require too much micro-management, so won't take too much time and will also keep you in the game even if you miss a few matchdays here and there. Here's the overview of the main rules: every player starts with a budget of 150m, and has to choose 15 players for their squad (2 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders, 3 forwards). You can change your team as many times as you want before the season starts. After that, you get 5 free transfers between every two matchdays, in case you want to make any changes you have to choose your formation and your starting XI before the kickoff of the first match of a matchday. Important! The game uses automatic substitutions, meaning that your substitute players will be automatically subbed in and get you points as well, if they perform better than a starting player in the same position. So no fiddling with your team necessary, and you can still earn points even if you forget to put someone in your starting XI you have to choose a Star Player every matchday, and the points they earn will be multiplied by 1.5 your formation and starting XI are automatically saved and carried over to the next matchday (if you don't make any changes), which means that even if you don't have time or simply forget to update it, you will still be earning points. So no penalties for missing some matchdays, which keeps you competitive until the end players will earn points based on their performances, you can see the point overview here: https://fantasy.bundesliga.de/page/scoring_rules The new season starts tomorrow, in around 18 hours. You can select players for your squad at any point before the season starts! Hope you'll all join @Rick @Faithcore @Stan @Viva la FCB @Tommy @londonerlilie @Rucksackfranzose @Michael @Coma @Pyfish and anyone else who wants to join, obviously! @Rucksackfranzose I know you said you're out, but since this one doesn't require you to remember to change your team, maybe you'll change your mind1 point

Not saying it was staged, yet can't see how former political assasination attempts constitute that one isn't staged?1 point

I know it's easy to say that after the match, but it certainly felt a bit like the 2019 Champions League final regarding Harry Kane. At that final, in my opinion Poch lacked the courage to drop a half-fit Kane in favor of a red-hot Lucas Moura, coming from a historic performance versus Ajax. It was similar today. Watkins scored the goal that led England to the final only to find himself blocked by a ghost Kane.1 point

I was insistent to @Dr. Gonzo that Kane is a major problem and the focal points of attack need to shift to Saka, Bellingham, and someone like Palmer maybe. Play a striker like Watkins, that pushes hard and fast at the front, he doesn’t even need to necessarily be a goal threat, just occupying areas that open space, Instead you get Saka as a fullback, Kane imitating Pirlo, and Palmer sitting on the bench. Watkins pushing hher gives room to Bellingham to do the same IMO1 point

Fair. Expected more given the hype. Had some big moments but not consistent performances.1 point

What people won't talk about because he was supposed to be the golden boy, is that Bellingham was mediocre this entire tournament.1 point

Get Kane out the squad and we'll start winning trophies too1 point

@Dr. GonzoI still reckon my England would have flogged these Spanish flogs. Sorry mate, the FA never reached out.1 point

Of course but in terms of philosophy City is a much tighter unit requiring precise execution, making any sort of dip in quality very noticeable. International football just can’t reach than sort of precision with so few games and changing personnel. But that isn’t an excuse for all the football terrorism we see in international tournaments.1 point

Right wing freaks are always inherently contradictory but they are consistent in their contradictions. Just look at how they fetishise ‘freedom’ but also clamour to restrict the freedoms of those in society that are most vulnerable. Also look at this thread they fetishise the ‘defiance’ of Trump but disparage the ‘defiance’ of the attacker. They don’t even know what they believe in.1 point

I'm enjoying it. I think the cast do a good job and I enjoyed the battle scenes at the end of the previous episode. I do agree that it doesn't quite hit the heights of the first half of Game of Thrones where the audience and their attention span were trusted to value suspense and intrigue, and that a few "junk food TV" elements remain but I still find it solid television and a big improvement on the dumpster fire of late Game of Thrones.1 point

TABLE AFTER ROUND 6 Just the two games to choose for as the tournament draws to a close. REMINDER of the Final on Sunday to predict for - click HERE to make your pick! @Viva la FCB is still leading the way but @JoshBRFC and @Michael are closing the gap. Just 3 points in it now and that could be key before all the Bonus Questions are tallied up. Just for info - if any players are tied at the end of the competition (including after the Bonuses are applied), then the tie-breaker will be most Perfect Scores gained throughout the tournament. Top scorer for Round 6 was @OrangeKhrush who amassed 10 points despite there being only the two games. Next best was @Tommy with 9 points and there are only 2 points between them. And the latter is only 5 points off the lead; again that could all change after Sunday night. Well done to anyone who got a Perfect Score - only 7 of us did so!1 point

Bielsa is fine at Uruguay and I don't think he would want to deal with the backlash in Argentina that would come with coaching England, which is very different from coaching in England. The argies truly hate England. Juan Sebastian Verón, one of the finest argentinian players ever, is vastly despised by argentinian football fans due to his bad performance versus England in 2002. They say he threw that game away because he played for Man United at the time. Obviously, it's a stupid accusation but it shows the level of animosity.0 points
