  3. Late Saturday night my partners waters broke. She blames me creating a party atmosphere after Odsonne Edouard's debut. Anyway the waters broke but my partner never went in to labour. They gave her Oxytocin Monday afternoon which led to abnormally painful contractions. She was in the very small number of people that Epidurals have zero effect on. After 13 hours of being witness to what I can only describe as a live exorcism she had just dilated 3 centimetres as the baby wouldn't put his head in the engaged position and he was now very distressed. The doctors called for an emergency C-Section and thankfully that's where our luck changed. The spinal worked on my partner and Noah entered the world at 0718 weighing 6.7lbs. Him and mother have been doing very well and they're hopeful they'll be released tomorrow.

  25. Welcome back. There have been a few changes to the forum to help limit the number of resources we're using to help keep the forum afloat. As standard everyone can still use the forum normally and post wherever they want, although I've changed a few things: There is now a 30 second flood control which includes things like the unread content tab (every refresh is a new query to the db) Signatures have been disabled The number of reputations you can give out is now 2 per day (this one seems dumb but the reputation table on the database is the 3rd biggest one which surprised me when I was looking at ways to cut back) Previously donators could upload images and videos to the server although this has been limited to just images under a new subscription scheme. All of these things will be available or be unlimited through a subscription (not mandatory but it will help with costs) that'll hopefully help balance the costs vs the resources battle we've had since we moved off our original server. ___ Discord will still exist alongside the forum since it seems to work better for live events like F1 although, for the most part, the Discord will be tidied up to accommodate the fact the forum has returned. I've also added a new payment option called Stripe which is an alternative to PayPal and lets you subscribe to the forum without creating any new accounts. The donation button has been removed as I'm hopeful that the £3.50 is low enough to get more people on board and help keep the forum funded on a monthly basis.

  26. I have no sympathy for any player that joined them this summer. Raphinia, Christianson and Kounde all had good contracts lined up for them at Chelsea but they chose to put on there birdbox cloth over there eyes and chase the Barcelona fantasy that died when Neymar left. The same with Lewandowski who 'fancied a new challenge'. All you have to do is look at how legends of the club have been treated, the mental transfer spending, the way they're forcing out players with smear campaigns and the Frenkie De Jong story to know something is seriously wrong. It needs one of the Governing Bodies to impose some form of transfer ban to save the club from itself. This gambling of a Super League that only three clubs seem willing to participate in at present is crazy and something UEFA shouldn't be best pleased about. If the stories about Martin Braithwaite holding out for his full pay are true then he should be hailed as a hero. He was signed in completely unreasonable circumstances and the smear campaign pointing out his wealth through his property investments is completely unreasonable. If they release him because he won't take a pay cut without paying his wages he's going to get a lot more than the club owe him now at court.

  33. I haven't shared this before but ive never been so depressed about the future of this country. I have a fairly stable job that pays well but if my mortgage was up for renewal I'd have to sell as there's no way I'd be able to make repayments at 6%. I live in what was until about six months ago an attractive place for people in there 20's and 30's to buy because we have fast trains to London. Not any more. There's so many houses up for sale either because landlords have had enough or people need to downsize urgently. I've already had to make 'smart sacrifices' with my quality of life in preparation for the energy bills to come in but were so reliant on electricity its really difficult to do so. I've never needed to live on credit cards but I think by next year that's a likely situation. I've never been anxious about the future but this is the first time I'm beginning to feel it. Even when Brexit happened and Covid started I felt confident that 'in five years things will change' but I don't get that vibe any more. I feel I may have been naive and over estimated the competency of all the top seeded politicians in this country. It saddens me the things we used to take for granted my Son may not have the luxury of doing when he grows up. Like shopping trips to America because the £ was so strong and drinking regularly in the choice of any pub/club. Pints were close to three pounds when I was 18. They're now around seven pound + where I grew up and I know my yearly wage hasn't doubled. That's a minor example but you get my drift.

  41. Got an unconditional from University of Manchester today to go along with my unconditional offers from King’s College London and Goldsmiths. Was genuinely expecting to leave college last year with grades that could get me into Roehampton or London Met, nothing against the Uni’s either, but my grades were phenomenally better than I anticipated and I’m so glad I waited a year to go to Uni otherwise I wouldn’t have had the chance to pick Manchester or King’s. Just waiting back on LSE now.

  43. The Spanish Flu was a catastrophic illness and far more lethal than this disease. Coming right off the back of the first world war, it ravaged an already dehabilitated society but I'm not sure society stopped like it is doing here. People carried on, I see no reason that healthy people should be quarantining now, it makes no sense. In Europe infections are rising but serious illness is not, there is growing evidence that this disease will become like the Cold/Flu another disease which we have to live with. It's not nice but we are human beings, being alive is a risk. I think some people want us to have 100% certainty they won't get ill before doing anything, that's not going to happen. Now that's not to dismiss people's concerns, of course we should be protecting the vulnerable (I wouldn't require anyone with a health condition or who lives with someone with one, to return to work etc) but the rest of us should be prepared to take a bit of the strain here. We need to keep things going otherwise there are going to very serious repercussions and may lead to far more death than we are seeing now. If the depression is as big as the 1920s then I guarantee you we will see a return to far right/far left politics in Europe. We were already heading that way, a massive depression will just tip it over. I don't mean to sound crude, I absolutely respect people's worries but I fear the 'cure' is going to be just as bad as the disease. We fucked up at the beginning (I hold my hands up in being as much of a fool as anyone) but I don't see any forward thinking now. Why haven't we got a quicker testing? If we could test results in a hour or so it would revolutionise what we could do.

  46. Well, guys, I am 71 today and just had a wee visit from our daughter and wee Kaiden which was great but horrible really as they stood at the end of the stairs, no kisses or cuddles and wee Kaiden singing "Happy Birthday Granddad...", once again FUCK THIS VIRUS!! Got some nice prezzies too and the card the daughter made was from a photo of me and wee Kaiden when he was 3 years old or thereabouts, one of her favourites photos and it's from wee Kaiden showing me how to assemble a bloody lego man ... Now 6 years old A nice pillow for my big fat arse and some Star Trek socks
