  3. Yes, as you're not the only country in the world to have a monarch well loved by the majority of the population. Thais, for example, absolutely loved their previous King, and the whole country went into genuine grief and mourning when he passed away a couple of years ago. 4. For the 'normal' selections, there were 5 winners. Game 23's first goal was in the 17th minute: 2 points 1 point 1 point 1 point While Game 24's was in the second half, in the 53rd minute: 1 point. For @Tommy, it was 10th minute for Gladbach vs RB Leipzig (his Game 23), and then 18th minute in the Madrid Derby (his game 24) So 2 points for him for his Game 23 guess! Table after Game 24: @Tommy moves in to double-figures, @CaaC (John) joins myself and @Lucas on 8 points, while @Rucksackfranzose moves up to 11th ahead of @Michael on 6 points.

  8. Perhaps DeSantis has that idea because Cubans can come to the US in what would otherwise be illegal immigration, but because of the Cold War, undocumented immigrants from Cuba get a pathway to citizenship in the US. And they are a reliably conservative voter block in Florida. In the rest of the country though, even legal immigrants don't have voting rights. You've got to become a naturalised citizen to be able to vote as an immigrant. I think it's more considered inhumane because taking people from one place without telling them where they're going is... kidnapping and human trafficking... Not so much the destination they've been sent to. And I think most normal people would find kidnapping and human trafficking to be morally wrong. I think it backfired though as the plan was to piss off a wealthy "left wing" (although I think Martha's Vineyard is more classically liberal and not really left-wing at all) neighborhood and instead that community rallied around these migrants who were trafficked from Florida to Martha's Vineyard to provide them support. It's managed to piss off even conservative Hispanic groups too. And it's just another example of a culture war being fought by America's political "leaders" rather than doing anything to address the issues. No surprise DeSantis is waging yet another culture war though.

  13. Oh for sure, but in case of Thailand, it's just one of the aspects that might not say much taken out of context, but contributes a lot to the big picture. It's even more obvious when you see the difference in their attitudes now with the new King.

  20. @Bluewolf genuinely can't think of anything on such a scale. The moment the coffin was lowered into the vault was both immensely profound and poignant. A very moving moment, for sure. Almost like that realisation or closure was felt.

  21. Didn't get to see much of it due to work but what I did see was, as you say was some spectacle... You can say what you like about the Royals but I think she was well loved by a lot of the public.. Would you ever see such a thing anywhere else in the world??

  23. I did watch that resident evil series. I'd give it an kit 6 1/2 out of 10 which is quite a low score for a zombie programme as I live the zombie genre. Particularly when it is fast zombies. It's been cancelled though due to poor audience reception and low ratings which is annoying because it was left on a cliffhanger. Just started watching better than us which is a russian programme based on the I Robot books. @nudge @CaaC (John) you might like it I think you two like that kind of thing

  24. This has been made to illustrate the size of Max's lead in 2022 but it's amazing to me to look back and see that Hamilton led the championship at this stage in 2010. It's a season I remember better than any other probably, and the Mclaren was probably the 3rd best car over the course of the full season. He also had to contend with Button as an equal team mate. Still find it mad how Lewis' only championship year with McLaren was probably actually the worst he ever drove with them, except for arguably 2011.

  45. Bit surprised he's still under contract in Gladbach, seems to indicate he indeed went on medical leave rather than actually terminate employment there. If this assumption is correct he would be "ausgesteuert" by now and get his money from pension provider in the mean time. In this case Gladbach would have all the leverage, since he'd be still on tract but not paid by them anymore. Hope that's the case, since it would mean they were able to take RB to the cleaners financially.
