  1. Had my first proper shop today since us well-balanced, stiff upper lip, keep calm and... Brits lost our shit and purchased every non-perishable good in existance. Tried two supermarkets on the way home. First looked a bit worse for wear but only the usual had fully sold out. The second looked like it had been looted, toileteries, cans / tins and rice / pasta aisles absolutely bare and not much of anything else. If I didn't laugh I'd cry. The absolute fucking state of it. Nice to hear of Lidl and Iceland having the first hour's trade for OAPs only, then you remember thr absolute weapons who landed us in that position to begin with. I get people are scared, nervous, apprehensive, whatever. Sadly I also understand how that translates into self centredness, arrogance and greed. I can only hope society collectively gives its head a wobble before much longer. God knows we are in for a hell of a ride yet.
  2. Would love to have them back in the League, everything about them is I think what I love about football - working class town, proper ground, no bullshit etc. Even sweeter if they replace the likes of Stevenage. Just need Workington, Darlo and Southport back after them! Did mean to do them pre season with Rovers but couldn't make the day in the end. I dare say anyone up to Sutton in 15th can still harbour play off hopes, but I hope of them all it is Halifax who make it, much for the same reasons as Barrow. Would also take Harrogate, Solihull or Dover for new blood.
  3. Should keep 32 entrants, bin off the group stages, go straight for two-legged knockout rounds from the off (seeded until you reach the last 8 if you want) and use the two less gameweeks to spread the tournament more evenly in the autumn. This gives the poor darlings more rest, domestic calendars more flexibility and chips away at the amount of games over the year, which practically every top tier manager in Europe moans about. Better quality, more competitive fixtures and every last match has something riding on it. Can see the appeal for the Leicesters, Atalantas etc., who make a genuinely decent addition and break the group stage monotiny mind. The above won't happen of course, but there we are. I honestly don't care anymore. I used to be the first on the outrage bus when these things came out, but the relentless pursuit of money, commercialisation and other riches just amuses me now. Every party involved in this sort of shit deserves every last ounce of what they will get when the whole job falls apart. I can't fucking wait.
  4. It's certainly not anxiety. I would guess it's a mixture of something like depression and stress. I've let it fester for years now, ironically as it depletes my motivation to go out and do and sort things... I do sometimes think the mass 'opening up' society has had on mental health is doing more harm than good in some cases. It feels very forced, almost compulsory, like we all must have an experience and be open and honest and lay all our cards on the table absolutely right now - whilst this does lead to many people combating their demons, it runs the risk of exacerbating it in people who don't have that severe a problem, and also making those who feel unable to talk about it even more alone and isolated.
  5. Physical fitness has gone to shit since I stopped going to the gym (not my choice, there's none where I now live!) but I'm not too bad overall, thankfully I have no underlying conditions or general health problems. Mental health is shocking. Should probably do something about it.

    Cricket

Say what you want about cricket but I have never, ever known nerves like that; only managed to listen to it today but fucking hell it almost killed me. For England to get progressively further behind the total, redeem it all in the final over helped by a monumental slice of luck; set a decent total in the super over, then stare well and truly down the barrel for the final for the final four balls only to win it not on the actual score and only by a matter of inches on the very last ball of the tournament is ridiculous. Not watching it or belittling it because England doesn't give a shit - it does, played in every village in the country and by a hell of a wider demographic than most other national sports - is their loss.
  7. Not that much difference in fairness between the top third of the National League and the lower half of League Two I think, probably nicer to be at a club with a bit of drive playing easier opposition than going to Morecambe and desperately try and stave off relegation. Decent little project Harrogate have going on at the moment though, they managed to slip under the radar last season because of the Salford love in, but are building to be a serious force to be reckoned with I think.
  8. Bloody hell that takes me back He was an absolute myth for Rovers for about eight weeks in spring 2004, scored three winning goals in three consecutive matches that kept us in the Premier League that year. Sadly never replicated his form again for Rovers and looking at his Wikipedia he seems to have turned into a bit of a journeyman so the step down, especially to an ambitious non-league club close to home, will hopefully give him a good end to his career.
  9. Given the state of just about every other team's finances these days this has gone a bit unnoticed but today Gateshead have been removed from the National League for a series of rules breaches, mainly financial, just days after seemingly being salvaged. Likely down to the Northern Premier now with Aldershot and a couple of others repreived. Genuinely feel for their fans, decent and proud following who have gone through shit this past while. Can't help but wonder just who else will follow in the coming years...

    History

Absolute wankers. Like the arseholes who starting taking momentos and leaving their names etched on ruins when Derwent Water dried up last summer revealing the submerged village. Why can't people leave things alone?
  11. Very sad news indeed. Went to their home match v. Gainsborough Trinity a month ago and did some reading on their plight. Some of their diehards that write their superb fanzine were outside the ground and you could tell that they cared about NFU like it was their own family. Their owners seemed crooked beyond belief but as it's not on Sky Sports News no one gives a fuck about them - see fellow strugglers Staines Town, Colwyn Bay, Thurrock last year, etc. Can be an awful environment at that level unless you have genuine resources.
  12. Have been to Boston United, proper old school ground but an absolute dive of a town. They are the longest serving side in that division I believe and have always seemed to do well whilst similarly getting nowhere. Huge run of games for Chorley now - had a blinding start to the season (won 9 of their first 10) and were home and dry before the Doncaster drubbing in the FA Cup, whereafter they struggled to even draw half the time. It is basically a two horse race now between themselves and Stockport County (Spennymoor I expect will fall foul of their backlog of matches) and they are due to meet at Chorley in April. Should be a cracker.
  13. A decent move, anything to ease the strain the likes of Workington and Kings Lynn must feel can't be a bad thing. I suspect everything will be finalised later this month when they traditionally sort the following season's constiution (and of course the play offs are finished). I am sure there will already be a few drafts though, just waiting for the final touches.
  14. Useless mate, none of that works unless we get #PrayForStPetersburg trending.
  15. I do enjoy MotoGP, started watching it again last year after an absence of about a decade; the only man left from that era being of course Valentino Rossi! I don't really have allegiances to riders or teams, I just find it really enjoyable to watch. I honestly think if it got better exposure over here it could take off, there's certainly a lot more (decent) British and Irish representation now than I ever remember them being. All we ever used to get was about 45 mins on BBC on a Sunday night, now it's not even free to view anymore.

God that takes me back, that three years ago with Killymoon Rangers, got them to the verge of the Irish Premiership then lost it on the final game of the season and was so pissed off I never played the save again. Bastards then went and got relegated in real life so I can't do it anymore

Cheers, thanks for the email that pointed me here! That's how I feel right now looking through here. Honestly feel like I've never been away, nothing and nobody's changed!

No idea if this is the right thread for this, but I've just joined courtesy of a random email from Rab. Was on TFF way back when as HotelCalifornia and I still recognise most of the names on here God knows last time I frequented that place but it's good to have found TFF (of sorts) again! Cheers
