  3. Episode 2 of Drive to Survive starts with Santa asking Horner's son "Has dad been good this year?". Answer is probably no.
  4. I remember one year where Ipswich had an obscene points advantage over 4th place and there was a real discussion over whether it was fair. But the playoffs make great drama and adds to the competition of the league by giving mid table sides an incentive to play with a third of the season remaining. Its up there with moving from two points to three points for a win as one of the best ideas to increase healthy competition and drama in the football league.
  5. Best managerial job for lining your pockets. Valerin must be gutted he's lasted longer than 3 months.
  6. I remember hearing about a month ago that a Judge had found him guilty but then there was a legal dispute over something rather complex such as whether this particular Judge had the jurisdiction to find him guilty.
  7. Mateta's work rate made it work up top, Edouard was a little quiet (Franca had his best game when he came on) and Ayew was brilliant. I'm not sure whether it was the quality of opposition, the new manager or the attacking nature of Daniel Munoz but its great seeing us play about 20 yards more forward.
  8. Yeah, Pawson was terrible. Sadly he's in The Mason Club so we will be talking about his poor officiating for another 5+ years.
  9. A big weekend this. With Leeds/Leicester, Hull/WBA and QPR/Rotherham the pressure is on the teams around them to pick up victories.
  10. It took Newcastle months to agree a deal with Brighton. It’s literally been a few days. These comments are hardly going to help his cause.
  11. It’s a popular move in the US to get state funding towards a stadium, which is probably where he’s also got the idea from. The owners say it will redevelop an area and bring new business to the benefit of the city where it is being built. But the benefits are usually pretty small to anyone but the team owners. People are becoming more aware but the politicians making the deals are getting benefits from it too in some way, so they typically won’t push back unless there is public outcry. Funnily enough, I was reading an article earlier that the Chicago white Sox owner is asking for over 1 billion dollars to build a new stadium, replacing the current one that was built in 1991 and the city has still not finished paying off. I don't think this government will take the bait. There will be an outcry. Especially during a cost of living crisis.

  13. Well they tried being a modern thinking football club for about five seconds.
  14. It won't be too bad if we finish 17th then given we make a snail look quick when it comes to doing anything in the transfer market anyway.
  15. A boring game for the neutral but I was happy to see we seem to have enough about us to survive this season without our four best players. The 3-4-2-1 sounds like the way we will go for the rest of the season and some players impressed more than I anticipated. Tyrick Mitchell's heat map must never have been so high and Joel Ward covered for Munoz well whilst as a right centre back which I think will be his new position over the next 18+ months. Adam Wharton's range of passing should get better as players recognise what he's capable of and should keep him in the XI. There were some downsides, the manner of the goal we conceded was disappointing, Mateta doesn't win enough aerial dules or physical battles for a man of his size and I don't see 'it' with Ahamada who gives away far too many dangerous free kicks. I think Everton will see this as a bigger opportunity lost. They haven't won in a while and on paper this was a great opportunity to do so given the dire situation we're in. But the performances since Brighton have made me believe were capable of finishing 14th-16th even if we dont have the substitutes to hold on every week. Hopefully we get a reset this summer under Glasner.
