  1. Tapas. Spend double the price in the UK and get half the flavour. You just need a good culture of people wanting that specific food to get it right. Even something as bland as British food, if you go to Australia they cannot serve a fry up, roast dinner or fish and chips to save their lives. The fry ups are generally lacking in quantity and quality, the roasts just lack quality and they don't serve chip shop chips with the fish, always fries or steak cut. Obviously you don't go all the way to Aus to eat like you're in the UK and instead take advantage of the great meat and produce they have out there. But yeah, unless you have large communities from a specific area then the food just won't be that great. Obviously there are large groups of Brits in Aus, but we're shit at cooking anyway so they're never going to get the things we end up doing mildly well lol. Living in London I would never really go for Italian food tbh. But you can find good food from across South Asian communities, great Turkish restaurants, Caribbean food and really good African cuisines too. I generally find the difference between these types of restaurants and say an Italian is that these restaurants will attract people from their ethnic background in the local community, so the food has to be good, but a lot of Italian restaurants or Spanish will likely attract more Brits than anyone so the standards don't have to be so high. I think if you're after a good Italian in London you're best heading into East London where you will likely find restaurants that come from old Italian communities. Interestingly, and maybe @Stan has some insight, Bedford is meant to have a big Italian community that settled after the war.
  2. Just read a rumour by someone who claims to be a Liverpool journalist, but might be an independent? So take this with a pinch of salt but Gary O'Neill has reportedly been interviewed for the job. I actually think his style of football suits what Liverpool are, a pacy, direct team that look to use pace and power to get in behind defensive lines and cause havoc. With that said you'd think he's too inexperienced to actually get the job...
  3. Air Jordan, it's become streetwear more than anything.
  4. Two league titles and a Champions League final is not to be sniffed at. Makes you wonder if United are considering him and whether he’d want to leave with the way this Inter team is building up
  5. Judging purely off the words of James Horncastle, I can only imagine him leaving Atalanta if he can be offered serious assurances that he will be backed at Inter. I also think in England we have a very rigid view on managers and players. If they make it here they're great, if they struggle they're shit, if someone does a bad job they'll never be good enough etc. But we've seen with Leicester City alone that two managers who were written off were able to win major trophies. Look at Ancelotti at Madrid, he was written off as a manager not too long ago as someone who underachieves and now he's dominating Spain and could well win another Champions League.
  6. Have to say Chelsea for worst club, City are the suave, sophisticated serial killer and then Chelsea are the texas chainsaw massacre lol
  7. You know I’ve just remembered that they have signed Savio from their feeder club system so I don’t think he’ll be going there anytime soon
  8. Honestly it doesn’t seem like it is. In terms of Twickenham I imagine it’d be viewed as a chance to use it once or a few times a year to help build fanbase/provide more opportunities for people to attend. Still mental and will most likely be hated by most of our supporters, not to mention rugby fans. In terms of the stadium, Benham has always said that stadium and matchday revenue isn’t that important in relation to tv money, and that for most clubs it’s what you do with that money that makes a difference. For example if you look at Liverpool’s income matchday revenue makes up about £80m whereas media made £242m. Obviously £80m isn’t to be sniffed at but once you get below the 60k seater stadiums the matchday revenue drops off a lot and I think at that point it’s about what advantage you can gain from being smart with your money rather than making a little bit more. The reality is that we could have moved further out into Hounslow and built a 25k-30k stadium with room to expand but the preference was to always stay in Brentford and I think it’s to our advantage, the stadium is packed out most games, the atmosphere is arguably one of the best in the league, especially when we’re up against the big 6. I think you struggle to get that by going bigger, you only have to look at Fulham to see whats happened there. Grand stadium, mix of modern and historic but you never really hear about how the fans create a massive atmosphere. Compare that to not just us but even QPR, smaller ground, can fill it out and create noise. That has to be the preference for going bigger just for more revenue. Look at Anfield, a lot of complaints about the new stands theyve built and the reduction in atmosphere.
  9. I know they won’t sign him but Olise is a Pep/Man City winger. He would be unreal there. Would be interesting to see him avoid City/PSG and go to a club like Liverpool if they were to lose Salah in the Summer.
  10. There is an incredibly stupid rumour going around a brentford forum, from someone who generally/supposedly gets info from people inside the club….that we are planning a move to Twickenham Honestly what a fucking ridiculous thought, 17250 seater to 60k
  11. Its a massive shame for their fans, feels like it could be a Portsmouth moment tbh but at least Pompey won the FA Cup and got to play against AC Milan and Ronaldinho. Those memories can take you a long way in League 2 lol
  12. Honestly Forest cannot go down quick enough, the owner is a nightmare and their buy every player under the sun recruitment philosophy is a terrible way to run a club. I don’t think they’ll do it but for the sake of the league I hope Luton stay up.
  13. @Devil If you wanna have a discussion about what you think I’m wrong about or unfair about I’m more than happy to do that, you will probably disagree with me at points and I will probably disagree with you at points and that’s fine. But theres no need for trying to work out underlying agendas, I could easily sit here and talk about you still living in SAF’s us versus them mentality and being incapable of taking criticism, but the reality is more likely that we think about football differently based on our experiences with the game and so come to different conclusions that don’t seem logical when compared with each other. The irony is one of my best mates is a United fan but the only times I have disagreements about the club with anyone is on here. Which in fairness is probably a reflection of my lack of will power not to post the first thing that jumps into my head lol, but is mostly due to what I wrote above about approaching the game from different positions.
  14. Did you not see your entire team visibly embarrassed today? Yes of course it’s fun to watch United be shit, what normal person wouldn’t find that entertaining after seeing decades of dominance. I enjoyed watching Gerrard slip a title away, sometimes people just like to get fun out of watching football lol. But no, its not hatred, generally just bemusement at how much the club spends and still manages to get so much wrong. I genuinely don’t think theres another team in the league who could win this badly against Coventry City…thats not hatred, just an observation as to where you are as a club right now. An observation I would imagine is shared by many, many people, likely Jim Ratcliffe included in that.
  15. dont criticise United or its hatred, got it!
  16. Takes a lot to make getting to a Cup final an embarrassing achievement but United really know how to get the job done
  17. Fair play McNeill, certainly has a big goal in him when it matters
  18. I think its harsh to give that as a penalty but honestly could go either way. But the ball from Gibbs-White, outside of the foot, so fucking good
  19. In fairness to Luton the way they’ve played it they will likely make a bit of money in the Summer from sales and get to re-invest and go again, obviously they will make good use of parachute payments too.
  20. Luton have only lost by more than one goal at home twice this season. 3-1 to Sheffield United and 5-1 today against us. I know its only Luton but that is an example of how we should be playing when most people are fit, back to what we done when Toney was banned.
  21. 2-0 up now, scrappy goal but I'll take it. Mbeumo hit the crossbar moments before with a lovely shot
  22. We've been the better team so far, Luton still trying to cause problems and in fairness they're not playing badly. But our defence has been strong and is matching them physically. Two pretty big chances for Keane Lewis-Potter, one that he sent wide that should have been on target at least, the second a well taken header that just went over. He's been taking up good positions and as I type this done well on the counter to get a shot off and win the corner. He's desperate for a goal or two to build confidence, hopefully he can get that today. Wissa's goal was beautiful, very well taken and just highlights the quality he has when playing in that central position. We are playing consistently to our skill level and finally have the pace and quality going forward to cut teams open.
