  1. Just finished Transfer of Power by Vince Flynn. If you like a bit of Clancy, Baldacci, Childs, etc. then you'll enjoy this. I did. Next up is Family: Life, Death and Football by Michael Calvin. His account after spending a the full season with Millwal from day one of pre-season of 2009/10.
  2. Just listened to Royal Blood's new album, How Did We Get So Dark?. Was a bit underawed by it. Really liked the first album so was hoping for something a bit more.
  3. You cannot really believe that you can take away all the baggage from these games and just look at a a result? You talk about the result whilst ignoring all of the context [the rivalry, the geography, it being a World Cup qualifier, the fact that it looked to all and sundry that the game had been lost, etc.]. I generalise here, but you lot thought you'd just beat the 'auld enemy'. We thought we'd lost not only to our perceived greatest rival but to a team we see an far inferior. Right at the death this got turned on its head. Now we're buzzing because we haven't been beat and because we know how you lot were celebtrating only a short while ago when you thought you had snatched a win, and you're all distraught becasue you didn't hold on to your late lead as you thought you would. The English fan response would have been nothing like what it was if the result was the same but had been decided a lot earlier. It was how it all finished which contributed to the final reactions. The context.
  4. Did you guys watching the Le Mans thing watch 'Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans'? Was a good programme.
  5. Who are these people you refer to as I don't know any. The happiness of getting a draw is because it looked liked we'd lost, but on proper reflection I don't know anyone who wasn't embarrassed by the performance and result. There is also the added satisfaction of knowing that the Scots thought they'd bagged it, and didn't. Again though I reiterate that the want for a win by supporters of both nations has nothing to do with standing, ability, rankings, etc. It is all to do with wanting to get one over the neighbours across the wall.
  6. Was umming and ahhing about that. Any good?
  7. I don't care how English teams get on in Europe unless it somehow affects my team.
  8. Interesting read @Inverted, although not from my experience. I don't know anybody other than people that are Scottish football supporters that care about the Scottish game, let alone just being satisfied with being better than them. At the international level the rivalry is based on geography, not abilty. And at club level nobody considers it good enough to worry about.
  9. Okay, thanks. I'll give it a go.
  10. I used be read loads of SF but haven't for years. Got me interested though @nudge. Looking online though it says that the book is part of The Interdependancy series. Can it be read on its own as I hate reading something if there are others before it that I haven't read yet?

    Smoking

Seems we are similar in taste. I'd add H. Upmann, Montecristo and Partagas to that list. Trying more 'New World' ones lately.

    Smoking

Never smoked a cigarette, but I do enjoy a good cigar. Definitely not a "cigar connoisseur" but am becoming quite knowledgable about it all. Probably smoke one once a fortnight, although they're smoked the Bill Clinton way [not inhaled].

Lead it to the table, wipe its arse and rip its horns off I say.
  18. Ignore him @Stan. I agree with you. Never understood why that film is raved about.
  19. Jason Bourne. Quite disappointed with this as I didn't mind the others. 5/10.
  20. So, first track today after hitting the 'shuffle' button is....
  21. Please, please, please pop over to the 'Delusion' thread, as I would so like to know how the fans are being cheated.
  22. Wish I hadn't bothered with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Only good thing to come out of that is I really want to see Wonder Woman now. IMDb were kind as they almost give it a 7/10. Only a 6 from me. I mean really. Negan and Maggie married to each other. Simba playing the butler. What a mind fuck. And I'm not having Ben Affleck as Batman.
  23. @Stan or anyone else seen any of The Trial yet? Watched the first episode. Already got the missus and I coming at it from different angles.
