  1. Yeah Rudy has definitely been one of my favourite players so far this season. And as for Kimmich, if he keeps up the way he's been playing over the last couple seasons I'm pretty sure he'll even end up surpassing Lahm in his prime considering his current quality.
  2. Have a Huawei P10 Lite. I'm not a big cell phone user or any of these social media things so can't say much about it. It's good for texting, taking some pictures during hiking/camping and I use a couple of apps (FitNotes for gym and a beer app to remember new beers I liked), but that's about all I do with it.
  3. Night and day the way we're playing so far again after Jupp's return. We need someone with his old school and no nonsense approach to take over at the end of the season. Not all the problems are fixed on the pitch yet obviously, but what a change. Also like Jupp's back to more traditional values approach in how he manages the players in training and off the pitch. Team meals and common sense approach to nutrition, cell phone ban (Alaba must be suffering), rigorous and well-rounded training, respect to fellow teammates and everyone within the Bayern family. Love that he banned the "health bars" that Ancelotti's son-in-law was supposedly feeding the team. The more gets revealed upon Jupp's return the more we get the sense how ridiculous things truly had gotten.
  4. Don't even bother, dude. Korab's been spouting nonsense on TFF and other forums for years. At this point it's clear he's either a dedicated troll or a total basket case. Pretty much none of his posts can be taken seriously and there's no point in attempting any kind of genuine conversation with him. Sometimes he can come out with some real doozies (especially in the BVB thread) that are good for a laugh, but that's about it.
  5. I can't even begin to express how unbelievably happy I am right now. This is fucking amazing!
  6. Yeah the minute they showed the replay I was pretty sure the best case scenario would be a pretty nasty meniscus tear. When I saw he couldn't even put any weight at all on it when he was being carried back figured it was probably worse. The times I've torn mine my leg felt like total rubber but could still manage a pathetic slow hobble...Ribéry couldn't even manage that. Feel really bad for him, but he really needs to know when to call it quits. It may be tough for him to admit, but at 34 with constant injuries its time to move on. Every time he recovers its only a matter of time before the next issue arises like clockwork.
  7. Good article from Bavarian Football Works about the present situation after today's draw: https://www.bavarianfootballworks.com/2017/10/1/16392402/recap-result-five-observations-bayern-munich-hertha-bsc-bundesliga Mostly agree with it. Disagree a bit about the point about Thiago. Not so much about his importance to the team because he surely is important to us, but as far as his role today. "Control" would not be the first word coming to my mind when talking about the second half of the match. We lost any control we had after Duda's response to Lewy's goal. After that we looked totally disorganised across the board with little to no redeeming features after that point. Not sure what to think about the coaching situation. Keep seeing unofficial confirmations on twitter that Tuchel is taking over. I'm of two minds if that's the case. There's no doubting he's a talented coach and could solve many of our problem, but could also be more like throwing water on a grease fire with team mentality and morale being what it is now. Let's see.
  8. ^Not sure how much I buy that "what about Müller" argument. If anything, Draxler could have been a very solid solution to our winger woes, particularly on the left where Thomas has rarely ever played anyway. Ribéry is fit now, but for how long is the ever present question. There's Coman as well who can play on the left and he's not shabby at that, but looking at our injury track record the position is still quite thin. If that was the supposed main reason for not signing Draxler, it's surprisingly ill considered. Anyway, in other news I'm glad we've finally loaned out Sanches. We'll see what happens.
  9. Welcome back Thomas though I didn't know you were gone having been gone myself Any interesting beers consumed? Was on vacation earlier in the week too to a small town not far from here for my gf's birthday. Good beach time, brewery time etc. Still maintain small southern Ontario towns are weird but ok
  10. Jesus christ what rain coming down the last 15 or so of the match! Players looking like drowned rats out there, but looks like the pitch is holding out thankfully. Feel sorry for both Ulreich and Leno though in that downpour. Nice goals from the two new boys Süle and Tolisso! Seems like Ancelotti didn't want to choose between Tolisso and Vidal afterall...though other than his assist Vidal hasn't done much good. That said our front line is looking sharp as fuck. Hopefully that hit on Ribéry didn't do much damage though. Was honestly expecting Leverkusen to put up more of a fight. Given their performance last season I figured they'd be keen to start the new season on a more promising note than this. A few decent attacks, one where we were saved by Kimmich and another where we were frankly lucky, but otherwise well we're steamrolling them a bit and wouldn't be surprised to see more goals in this one for us.
  11. From what I've seen on twitter KHR is still admitting that it'll be hard to give Sanches much time this season given our present midfield. He doesn't seem to be entertaining much illusions from the latest statements. I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be yet another 5 minute golden boy. Would rather place Dorsch and Benko ahead of him. Kid just rubs me the wrong way and after the Euros never really made a good impression anyway. We've dumped decent German/academy youth in the past who would have been worth spending more time on than him. Anyways, for today's match I honestly thought Thiago would be back. He's been back in team training since end of July and all the info seemed to suggest it wasn't serious. But seems to keep dragging out. Boateng, Neuer, Thiago, James, Martinez and Bernat all still out injured for the match today. Bild is predicting: Ulreich - Kimmich, Süle, Hummels, Alaba - Rudy, Vidal - Robben, Müller, Ribéry - Lewandowski Think Tolisso deserves to start over Vidal though. He and Rudy have been doing well together. Also think we should try starting Coman over Robben. And really hope that's our starting defense with no Rafinha.
  12. Ugh, apparently we rejected an offer of 50 million from Milan for Sanches, one year loan with option to buy the only option. Blows imo. I really didn't like his attitude last season, we don't need more of that shit on the team. Its too bad Benko was injured for a good chunk of our pre-season, would have been great for him to get the chance to show what he can do now. I remember last year he was looking so promising when he got the chance and he's older now plus can also play on the wing.
  13. Felt badly for him as well, especially after such a great game otherwise from him. You could tell it hit him though. He is a very passionate and ambitious player so hopefully it doesn't impact his confidence. But I also think he's a fairly mentally strong and realistic player. So in that respect I imagine he'll see it as a learning experience and move on rather than let it impact his future confidence in high pressure situations. Or at least I would hope.
  14. Yeah, it is probably more than a lot of members on this forum have given because I'd wager most members of this forum make nowhere near what he makes... I currently work for two non-profits myself and frankly it gets tiring to see the kind of tokenistic bullshit wealthy people like to do just to make themselves look/feel better. I also think its a bit bullshit to constantly expect poor people to be eternally grateful for whatever table scraps the wealthy throw to them for their own egos. Its also a matter of understanding the politics of non-profit organisations, who major donors are, who grant providers are, essentially where the money comes from and how the direction of such an organisation has more to do with wealthy or governmental stakeholder interests than the interests of those they're supposedly serving. An organisation like streetfootballworld is all well and good, but there are very real reasons why people roll their eyes at these kinds of "gestures". In an industry that just saw a nearly 200 million Euro player transfer, that's ripping up any kind of fan ownership left, right and centre, that doesn't seem much interested in restricting wealthy owners, corporations etc. in continuing to turn the sport into their own personal playground, this 1% of wages to football charities thing...I'm sorry but it's naive at best and pure publicity at worst.
  15. I find it funny that these guys have to go to India to somehow get some kind of epiphany on the levels of poverty that exist and are growing in the world, not to mention their own nations. Globally, wage inequality is well on the rise meanwhile players are making rapidly increasing amounts of money, not to mention the money in general being moved around the industry. The degree to which some of these guys are out of touch with current reality is sad really. If he were really so "shocked" by poverty you'd think it'd be worth more than 1% of an otherwise gargantuan salary. And even outside the salary when you consider the free cars, clothes etc. through sponsors. I'm not sure that this is any sort of noble effort, even if he did manage to make a change that resulted in every player giving a mere 1% of their massive salaries to charities, non-profits, whatever. Don't think players, just like celebrities, should be congratulated for these transparent publicity stunts.
  16. So Holger has signed with Stuttgart. Good move I think. I just hope he'll be able to stay fit this time and that it'll end up being the place where he can get his career slowly back on track again. The few moments when he wasn't injured with us over the last few years he showed that he's still a great defender. He definitely deserves to catch a break for once. Also from today:
  17. Ugh yeah, been a pretty rainy summer here as well. We have been lucky to have some good bits of heat and sunshine, but we've had so much rain there was problems again with flooding earlier in the season. Even the island (about 15 mins boat ride from the city) was basically under water for a month or two. Ridiculous.
  18. Was gonna say...careful Thomas! Thanks! What is everyone else up to this weekend? Was going to go to an out of town beer festival but unfortunately the plans had to change last minute. Hope to hit up a local one in a couple weekends though.
  19. A lucky win for us, especially with the own goal. Will gladly take the win, but hope it doesn't give Carlo nor the players a false perception. MotM between Kimmich and Ribéry for me. Both of them gave everything today. Our midfield was dozy as hell though. Rudy and Tolisso stepped it up a little bit in the second half, but Vidal was just shit. We're clearly not quite ready to go yet and feel like our midfield is a problem area right now. We definitely need Thiago back. Vidal should have been subbed off early, but then again you have guys like Sanches come on and its not exactly much better. Agreed, he had more than enough time and really should have taken it. Even if he didn't take the shot himself, there was more than enough time for a better set up. Very lazy and any other day could easily have cost us the match.
  20. What in the fuck? They gave it to Kimmich but almost looks like it came off Hummels' knee. Messy as fuck but I'll take it Nm own goal lol
  21. Fuuuucckk Aubameyang! Lightening fast goal
  22. Yeah there was a time I thought he was misguidedly postponing retirement, it was always one thing after the other. But it's been great to see him back in form again! And yeah, happy to see Süle come on as well. I was really happy when we signed him, great defender that I've always liked. Kind of been confused to see some fans acting like he isn't "good enough" for us. Tolisso livening up a bit.
  23. Pretty even so far. Dortmund came out pretty strong early in the first with Pulisic robbing Martinez to score out of the blue. Partially Martinez up to his old tricks again as cb, but great work by Pulisic nevertheless. Our goal was pretty sweet too with Kimmich gunning after his own header to cross it into Lewy.
  24. Hmm no Supercup match thread? Anyway exciting one so far, really enjoying it. I never get tired of watching Kimmich play though. Smart, speedy and such a fucking beast. That set-up for the Lewy goal was just glorious.
