I don't even trust the data from those countries tbh. Since shifting the reporting from the CDC America's death curve has flattened, and rate of testing has reduced, positivity rate has increased. Would not surprise me if the excess deaths in states like Florida are much higher than their reported Covid deaths now.

They aren't though mate they're just not impressed that they are following the process, with multiple candidate vaccines in stage 3 trials, whilst Russia bypass the processes.

I suspect trump will copy him. He'll be ropeable not to have been the first to do this, but for certain help be going to the polls in November claiming to have have cured coronavirus. Me too. As sceptical as I have been about their mortality rate being way better than Germany, or China's months of near zero Covid cases.

Yes it's free, but it's an enormous game. 200GB download. Very enjoyable though. I'm finding it very social in current isolating times. I have a squad of friends and we all play together. Good for social connectivity.

I'm playing call of duty Warzone with a fair bit of regulatory and enjoying it.

Is there a vaccine duration which you would be prepared to wait for, and one you would not? For example if we knew now a vaccine was 3 years away rather than the more optimistic 1 or less would you reach a point of saying "I'll take my chances"?

That's where I live mate. Weve had layers of restrictions, and we were slowly easing out of the original restrictions, before reversing and going back in to stage 3 lockdowns, and today announced to be going to stage 4 lockdown. The stage 3 had significantly slowed growth in cases but after 3.5 weeks did not yet start trending downwards. That level of restrictions was being allowed to leave your house for only 4 reasons, and schools learning remotely except prep and final year of high school. One of the 4 reasons you could leave your house was work that could not reasonably done from home. That tend to mean low income manufacturing, aged care, abbatoirs, etc, and it is amongst that community where infections have not been contained by the restrictions. The stage 4 restrictions skinned today looks worse than what we had the first time with daycare shut down and majority of those out of home employment (such as construction) shut down.

Melbourne likely to go back into harder lockdown than it experienced in its first wave. Probably something similar to what countries with major outbreaks food the first time. Public transport to close. All businesses except grocery and pharmacy to close. Will be a bitter pill to swallow tbh.
-
A key difference now in most places compared to the original outbreak is the rate of testing, and criteria to qualify for a test have become more favorable towards painting a true picture of the extent of the outbreak.. where before most countries were identifying only the worst affected cases and their close contacts, whereas now they are testing anyone who wants a test..

I love and respect Henderson, and he's no doubt had a great year, but I can only see him winning as a sentimental choice based on it creating the best story narrative.

Prime Torres was a majestic unstoppable beast. I still struggle to pick between him and Suarez. I will always wonder what might've been if hnando had linked up with Suarez and had such a quality player alongside him, of the type that brings others into the game. I feel like he would've got his mojo back and maybe we would have broken through earlier.

Could she have been an assymptomatic carrier in April that never knew it? I don't recall the facts of your case but looking at weekly death count from Jan to June there is no sign of a COVID wave before March, and a very big wave when Covid passes through... The weekly death count in New York went through the roof in April as Covid passed through. Four times as many deaths as usual. Without massive control measures it would have escalated further.

Honestly I find it hard to believe that people here caught it in December or January. No offence intended but if true then the corollary is that a virus that spreads like wildfire and causes 10% of those who catch it to be hospitalised and 1% to die went totally undetected without anyone noticing it was there in major economies for multiple months.

I can sympathise to a slight degree with the liberty argument. I would like to have a choice on wearing a mask rather than have it legally imposed on me. I that's not because I desire to be irresponsible. I already gladly wear one anywhere that it would add value, but if I'm taking my son for a walk in our low density suburban neighbourhood where we come no close than 5 metres to anyone, I would prefer not to wear, as he's an anxious 4 year old and I don't want to heighten his fears of this whole thing.

Tbf I'm not sure madlad is saying that. My read was he was just exclaiming about how far the lad has come, and reflecting on the huge place he now has in LFC history

Hamilton. A masterpiece. Unbelievably good, and also likely to hook you on a period of history for some time afterwards.

None of that would have been remotely consistent with his psyche or any of his previous behaviour though. His entire administration has been characterised by an anti science, anti expert stance on pretty much everything from military intelligence to public health and environment. Typical of that he saw the whole pandemic from a perspective of " fake news to hurt the economy" and then "how can this happen to me, it's so unfair" when it inevitably went south. He is impulsive and reactive, and will take the opposite stance in a conversation to what he did yesterday based on it being the position that best suits him in that specific moment. So it's not surprising that he wasted critical moments having petty arguments about what was happening right now whilst not looking further forward. He is capable of grasping that a good economy is good for him in reelection, but genuinely too dumb to understand that a pandemic well dealt with would be even better. If he just believed the experts he could have seen this was a 9/11 sized opportunity to boost his approval ratings if he just reacted decisively and in favour of public health. But that would have required him to not be who he is. Believe experts, step forward and own the moment, and be forward thinking and decisive. Never Trump. He is being decisive now in leaving the world health organisation in the middle of a one in 100 year public health crisis, but that's because he's butthurt and is going against the experts based on his gut whilst also being inflammatory.

8 suburbs in Melbourne are back in lockdown. We're currently the main Australian City battling a resurgence and it's rising pretty quickly... Makes you realise we were already slowing the curve quite a bit pre lockdown the first time. People aren't quite as anxious now which ultimately means the rate of spread is slightly higher in that aspect. Other things have improved, but people overall are being more relaxed.

Just checked in on the data for the worst time in a while.... I knew Brazil was bad but didn't realise they had a 50% positive test rate for all their accumulted cases. 3 million tests for 1.5 million confirmed cases is just terrible.

I see this photo and my first reaction is... You look like someone that would be left handed... Is that actually the case or am I just crazy?

I swear you just post these defunct "image not found" JPEGs to troll us all @Devil-Dick Willie
