Looks more like proof of how rushed the story is on the later seasons. All the battle episodes are very low which has been the case since season 2. The more of those the are the more it brings down the average.

Way to discourage a person from posting pictures of their other half. Neg rep

Mate this argument which is pretty pervasive on social media reeks of misinformation and being strung together from a bunch of half true tweets and articles. It's too convenient for me that a bunch of social media commentators from the outside can all simplify and diagnose the root cause of all our pain and frustration down to a single scapegoat. Things are rarely ever that simple. Especially when the decision for 13 episodes was announced long ago and none of the many articles spoke about that being because the D's were just over it and wanted to get out. They took 3 years to make these 13 episodes rather than the usual 2 years to make 20. Why are the producers the only ones we'll believe wanted a new project not everyone else who's worked just as tirelessly on the show for just as long? It's all too simplistic for me to pin all this blame on the two guys who's years of effort and passion suggests to me care more about the show than anybody.

I feel for the producers tbh. Not sure they knew what they were getting themselves in for when they limited it to 13 episodes but I'm willing to bet it was budget related, and whilst HBO didn't constrain the episode count they did constrain the budget. This show deserved to make more money than the Lord of the rings movies or the Marvel franchise but it's on that same level of awesome. I'll bet it didn't make a patch on that. Hence the budget constraints still being a limiting factor. For sure it felt a bit rushed, (about on par with the Harry Potter movies for me in terms of pacing) but within the confines of that they did a pretty great job. The internet has been Savage, which is understandable given the love people have. But let's not forget these are the guys who holed GRRM up and persuaded him to make a tv show about his unfinished books, who already knew enough about the series to call the R+L=J thing this passing GRRMs test, and then put together a fucking sensational show which continued to be pretty damn amazing even after they went way way beyond the source material. There's been ups and downs but All time levels of respect from me.

Do you guys have preference voting for MPs? I'd think that could work pretty well to find the option that pleases the majority. Get the best set of deal terms for a soft brexit then take a preference vote of the options. Best Deal soft brexit, hard brexit or remain. The remain option would hopefully only be there to capture the grey... I.e the people who would vote for a soft brexit that would have second preference to remain rather than hard brexit, etc. If you can get a couple of different deals you could add another option, but either way you will get a better indicator of concensus than just picking a or b.

Totally agree. Martin always said he was going for a Lord of the rings type ending. I can see the parallels. I'd give it a 9/10. When I recognised the reasons bran made sense, and that Tyrion had got his backstory at Winterfell I actually liked the Bran result. I knew going in to watching it that bran was $1.01 to end up on the throne and I said there was no conceivable way that could be done plausibly except if Bran warged into Dany. In the end this plotlineconmfortably exceeded my expectations. I'm hoping for a renewed energy when he watches and then feels the urges to improve the flow of the final chapters, particularly after the public outcry.

Bran only told Jon about his parentage to drive Dany crazy so he could take the throne. He let The people die. Best player in the game.

I'd say it adjusted its writing style as it became more and more mainstream. Most great tv shows have been American but they've never been as mainstream as game of thrones was by the time of seasons 7 and 8. They went a bit mainstream tv network in plot development rather than premium cable show.
-
They picked a guy who doesn't die.

Ok. My turn to be Cicero this week cos I really enjoyed that episode. In fact I fucking loved it.
-
I'm expecting an unexpected ending. So almost sure that none of Jon, Dany or Sansa on the throne. My guess is either the wheel will be broken, via formation of a non monarchical structure or we'll be back where we started, Gendy Baratheon a reluctant and unprepared King or we'll be left with a vacuum and complete and total anarchy in which Bronn takes the throne as the only person with a sword both standing. I'll be surprised if at least two of Arya, Jon and Dany don't die tonight.
-
Mate surely you recognise the difference. None of those "holes" are on the level of a character oscillating from invulnerable to nerfed from one week to the next. Or of euron being the only one to survive the shipwreck and just so happening to swim ashore just as Jamie was walking past.

What do you mean? The betting markets are quite peculiar.

Dragonstone is one the doorstep of Kings landing. It's improbable that Tyrion, Varys and Dany would be so ignorant and unprepared for eurons fleet to be present to surprise them given it was the third time he pulled a move like that. It's then shocking that the crossbows are of magical level accuracy from a point they could not even been seen by those on a dragon. Then the following week Dany just ducks out of the way of them as if they're nothing at much closer range, like keanu in the matrix. Game of Thrones season 1-4 would never serve up such bullshit and ask us to swallow it.
-
I think we should do a predictions piece for how the show will end. Bonus points for the most detailed way you'd see it playing out.
-
We’ll see how it washes out next week mate but I’m betting Danny will be shown to have gone full mad queen, making this a confirmed act of a person now descended into madness who will then inspire a need for action from the likes of Arya, Tyrion, Jon, etc.
-
Not out of nowhere mate. A rapid oscillation from saving humanity to the most extreme of evil that is too extreme to be consistent with her character. I'd believe her burning a building full of innocents with Cersei hiding in it. Really that could have achieved the same end point for Jon in a more believable way.... Even as mad Dany (which I do buy) i don't believe she'd commit post-surrender genocide of the children of Kings landing whilst leaving Cersei to do whatever the fuck. Not even Aries would have done it. She may as well have been doing the doctor evil laugh as she went. Muahahahaha.... It was a visual feast but a storytelling abomination.
-
Positives... 1. The visuals, sound and special effects 2. I was pretty comfortable with all plots other than Dany, Jon, Tyrion and the euron scene.
-
I can think of 3 possibilities... 1. Dany doesn't want to hang around and fucks off back to essos 2. Dany is taken out by Jon, Arya and Sansa 3. Dany kills and submits all This episode was the one they really jumped the shark. Jon and Tyrion are witless bumbling fools. Thats probably the biggest letdown for me with the show. Jon has pretty much lost every battle, and still showing the same Ned stark tendencies. Tyrion was supposed to be the smartest man in the seven kingdoms. He had fundamentally fucked up every decision and action he has taken for the last two seasons.
-
It's because the character development has been so underdone mate. Less than two episodes before she unleashed a holocaust on the scared villagers in Kings landing she was fighting desperately to save humanity. From Jesus to Hitler in 90 minutes. To jump to the worst and most evil villain in the entire show from that point with a couple of short dialogue scenes and a missandei beheading is not good story telling. This show which started out as a political thriller has now evolved into the corniest of Michael Bay movies.
-
It's an arc I think that could have been made plausibly in the books, or even in the show if they'd had more time. Assuming book 6 winds of winter is the night King battle and dream of spring is the story of a brutal showdown with Cersei that nobody had the mental energy for.
-
I just lost a long post. In summary. Good directing. Pretty terrible writing. Definitely the most annoying bit for me was Euron fighting Jamie. So pointless. Maybe the best indication of how the shows lost its way as it's worn on. The episode would be much better without it. However Danys turn to madness goes beyond all levels of believability. Killing the soldiers would be believable. What she did was beyond next level to the point I can't believe she'd hang around to rule.

I'll calm down then post.
