  1. That doesn't justify anything, but it was a bad move
  2. What isn't shown beforehand is that immediately before that occurred the keeper picked up a flare that had been thrown onto the pitch and lobbed it back into the crowd.
  3. This is super shit. Does so much reputation damage for the code in Australia.
  4. It's literally what Fox news has been doing for a couple of decades at least. The stories they run that hurt their side are either ignored or reported through a lens of discrediting and/or justifying. It was wrong and an example of overreach, but it was a lesser one than was practiced during covid (and that's the one I wish we were talking about, but it doesn't have the same blowback on democrats so surprise surprise it's not the talking point). The fact there are people still living in their basements to scared to go outside, riddled with anxiety about getting covid is damning and a massive indictment on the media and on the bad faith anxiety merchants like Eric Ding that have spewed poison which has had major impacts.
  5. What's the likely impact of reducing staff by 80-90%?
  6. I agree. I'd be open to them boosting tweets from paying customers AND public figures, but it's not right to use the blue tick as interchangeable, nor force the public figures to pay for making the massive contribution they do to Twitter that is why the users are there in the first place
  7. The bridge memes have been pretty top notch
  8. This is exactly what I would describe as a typical Republican politician from the post-reagan era. Almost every senator is like this. They seem to operate with complete dishonesty in terms of what their real aims are, and for most of that time have implemented policies, economic policies in particular that are more likely to hurt their average base voter than help them.
  9. I think it's unlikely that Trump would engage in some sort of deal for information with foreign powers, but he spills information with no self control, so that would be my worry
  10. https://youtu.be/pR_2lnAKDcQ?t=146 A decent analysis of trumps statement. Just hit play where its lined up and see the lawyers reactions. His defence is not very credible
  11. Garland is playing Trump like a fiddle.
  12. I would have thought the British royal family had the most to lose from the release of full details from Epstein. But maybe Trump would do the deed. He was definitely the one in the best position to pull off such an elaborate scene
  13. Spike, wishing you the best in this struggle mate, and also applaud the bravery of your post. I have my own demons and I understand a lot of what you said there. I think you're right about the impact of the isolation. That's bound to be a big impact and hopefully something that can be addressed with some changes like moving closer to home as you mentioned being on the cards. I hope you don't fixate too much about losing passions for hobbies over time, this happens to almost everyone. For example with football for me. And I felt down about it and started to psychoanalyse it. But what I realised with football was that what really made me love it in the first place was that it brought me together with people, and it had stopped doing that, because circumstances changed as I grew older... I went from watching it with my football team at the pub with regularity, and watching it at home in order to talk about the matches at training, and having a girlfriend that liked football more than I did, who watched games with me, whereas now days I left the football team, my wife is apathetic and I don't really have any real life friends I talk football with. This saps alot of the best bits out of it. Best not too put too much pressure on yourself to feel a certain way, as it can amplify any negative feelings. Hope you feel better soon mate
  14. I don't know how the fuck you or anyone could do a US Midwestern winter. But I still stand by my point, because you are coming with a clean slate and have warmer places to pick from which also have lower costs of living.
  15. That's basically me saying fuck Melbourne. If my whole family weren't based here I would be in WA or further north
  16. I've heard good things about the area South of Fremantle. I think one other factor to consider is the weather. From a well-being perspective, being outside, near sun and near water are just good for the soul, and living somewhere where the winter weather is less bearish is a good consideration.
  17. I might be wrong about that cost tbh. 300-400 might be possible for 2 bedroom apartments
  18. It depends what you're looking for and whether it's a long term play to build a life there, or life there for a few years and not save anything. Melbourne is expensive. There are lots of inner city apartments so could probably buy one for 400k. If it's a house I'd suggest the outer western suburbs which are up and coming. Closer to the city than the eastern or south eastern and lots of young families and good urban development, and new transport infrastructure being built. You could get a 3 be house in Werribee for 450-600k. Not too sure about rent. I have to say a lot of Melbourne's selling point was the awesome CBD which is not at its best after the pandemic. If I had to give actual advice I'd say a smaller city is a better play, for affordability purposes, with interest rates tipped to rise another 1% this year.
  19. Shinzo Abe assassinated RIP
  20. The long term impact of Reagan conservatism?
  21. I completely agree. JP has some worthy contributions to the discourse, but unfortunately he purveys those ideas amongst others predominately amongst the aggrieved. I wish someone would prosecute some of his ideas in a more mainstream setting in a less alienating way.

Kyrgios had the talent to be so much more, but his temperament has doomed him. He's uncoachable.

Apparently Netflix were making a documentary about Kyrgios and tsisipas and recording footage from this match
  24. So you think it's an injustice that the people of the UK aren't armed to the teeth? You'd take their stable, 0.2 gun deaths per 100k country and dump 25m more guns into it?
