  1. That exploded into a good fight. Wilder shows he has a chin and heart, but there's still the same questions over his technique, surely when he throws them wild swings Joshua or Fury would land.I think Joshua KOs him as well but would always have the feeling that a Wilder right hand could KO Joshua so it would be an intriguing fight. If he ever comes back to the same level he was at before  Fury plays with Wilder, Wilder wouldn't even be able to get into range.

Wilder with the win in the end but it'll do him no favours and just makes Joshua the bigger favourite now, Ortiz didn't have the power or more importantly the reach to get the power to knock Wilder out. Cut the ring off well, cornered Wilder, worked some good shots and done well to keep to the right of Wilder's leading foot making his right hand harder to connect. Should have ended the fight but obviously didn't have enough in him to do it, fair play to Wilder the man has a chin and can take some big hits.

I've said from the beginning that I think Joshua will win and Ortiz has set up a blueprint today in how to push Wilder to the edge. Joshua vs WIlder, Joshua to win via TKO after a crashing right hand and a left upper cut with Wilder against the ropes.

I don't think it changes much in the odds or negotiations,, Joshua favourite but Wilder has the right hand sill. I think Wilder answered a few questions to some extent (chin, heart) but there's the same questions over his technique and boxing ability and we still know he has that killer right hand. Ortiz was a bit of a bogey man, we don't really know how good he is.

If he fights Joshua he will be far too small as well. How are his legs so skinny? He needs to get on that AJ juice. He would be giving away over 2 stone as it stands

  2. Decent night of boxing. Feel for Dave Allen. Brook KO against a poor opponent  likewse Josh Taylor.

Had a few quid on Gavin Mc v Yafai to go the distance and Brook KO in a double and then a small bet on Brook in rounds 1-4.

I think i've got about £15 in total now in Wilder KO in rounds 1-4. I did it straight and also in a double with Thomas on points which was voided. A Wilder KO early would leave my skybet balance looking healthy for the first time in forever. I can't be arsed to stay up for it, will watch it in the morning.

  3. Yeah agree this should be easy work for Brook. I think he’s pretty exciting. I’d say he’s a world level fighter but will come short against the elite guys. This fight is for a WBC trinket, Charlo is the WBC champ, that’s a recipie for disaster, he will break them eye sockets again.

    gutted for Dave Allen.

Gavin McDonell winning this comfortably on points for me.

Can't wait for Wilder v Ortiz. I don't rate Wilder but appreciate that if he lands a big one the fight will be all over. I've had a little go on Ortiz stoppage

I think a couple of years ago it would've been a live fight, but Ortiz looks fucking old. There has always been rumours about him being older than he is, he also wore a glove on one hand during the press conference (hand injury?) and then there's the PEDs he has been caught doing twice, so we've got to assume he's not on them this time so might not be the same fighter?

Finally, the boxing circles love a conspiracy theory and i'm not totally buying into this but why would Wilder risk a mega money fight with Joshua to fight a potentially dangerous Ortiz? There just seems something fishy about this and as such i've gone for Wilder stoppage which will build the Joshua fight more.

I also don't rate Wilder as a boxer but he does seem to have fucking legit power.

  5. What a weekend of boxing ahead. Brook should win, but after two broken eyes sockets the fight has interest, Yafai v G McDonnell is close to a 50/50, Allen v Thomas will probably be shit but another 50/50. Wilder v Ortiz is interesting as well although I think Ortiz is over the hill (he must be about 50). Then we also have Kovalev returning and the Channel 5 card with the best prospect in British boxing Josh Taylor.

Dave Allen is in shape, but so is Lenroy Thomas. I've had a dabble on Thomas on points at 9/2, there is so much value in that. It's a 50/50 and neither boxer is going to KO the other one, it's just the Brits putting money on Allen which has shortened the odds. I've also put it in a double with Wilder to win inside 4 rounds which is 35/1.

  6. It's the worst snow we've had around here probably in my lifetime. You can't expect to be prepared. There is no point wasting money on 100s of snow ploughs and gritters if we use them once in 20 years. When that once in 20 year snow comes round we just have to deal with a few days of chaos. It'll be gone in a few days.

I used to think it was weird but grew accustomed to it, but cities out here are a bit different to home. London for example it's all spread.

Melbourne is a city of nearly 5 million so expected really to have a wide range of sport, similar to London.

I'd say it's up there with the top sporting cities in the world,  probably wih London and New York, but they both have at least twice the population. It hosts a grand prix, tennis major and has massive stadiums. MCG- 100k, Etihad- 60k the football stadium 30-40k. For a city of it's size and stature in the world that's very impressive. They host a liverpool friendly and get 100k people there, likewise the state of origin that's between NSW and Queensland. It's a city that's mad for sport and it's not even the biggest city in a country that has a population of only 20m!

  8. Pretty bad here, not like us to be one of the worst affected parts of the country. About 20cm of snow, roads are awful. Fuck all people going to work because a lot of Norfolk is very rural and roads are awful. Even the city roads are pretty bad.

  9. CBD is such a weird name for a city centre. I found myself using it though!

I’d Melbourne is he most livable Oz City. It’s an amazing city for sport too, it’s got to be up there with the best sporting cities in the world, for the population it’s probably number 1. It has major sporting events, massive stadiums and such a variety of sport.

Most of them I've seen when looking for jobs in France say that they prefer people with a degree, but it's not necessarily essential. Also the pay is usually around €18 an hour...d'you think a new teacher would start on that or is that for experienced teachers?

Although it sounds a good hourly wage, don't expect to do 35 hours a week. I started doing 16-20 hours a week and that's a heavy workload with planning lessons and trying to teach to somewhere near an acceptable standard.

I know quite a few people who work as ESL teachers online, mostly for Chinese companies. There's apparently a huge demand, and the pay's quite good at 20-25$/hour.

I've heard lots of people talk about this but not many people actually doing it. It's always seemed like a bit of a myth to me. If it works though and it's a reputable company then it sounds like alright money.

China has a bad rep with teaching though, i've been told first hand horror stories of Visa issues and people spending night in cells because they didn't have the correct visa but the school told them they did xD

Teaching in the Middle East with a CELTA? I've seen some crazy teaching jobs out that way and met a lecturer who teaches in Qatar. Fucking hates it but is loaded. I'd rather enjoy my life. Never know what is going to happen next.

I was on better money than most CELTA/TEFL jobs in Japan but I could've earned more if I really wanted to but valued my social life.

4 week course sounds mad - considering an education bachelors is 4 years in Australia. Did you teach from a textbook?

Yeah,. I wouldn't give up my life for the money in the middle east. Fuck that. I've never been but even Dubai sounds fucking awful to me, i really don't see the appeal in that place.

What qualifications did you have a proper teaching qualification from Oz? If so of course you would be on better money than someone that has just done a CELTA/TEFL.

In the ESL world I'd say someone with 4 weeks training is pretty qualified! There are the 'real' teachers that generally teach in international schools, then the CELTA teachers and then the weekend course teachers. From my experience the real teachers would work in international schools, then the rest would work in language centres or state schools.

I used the textbook as a basis and then taught around it, but yes I agree a 4 week course is nowhere near long enough to be a competent teacher, but it's a damn sight better than a 2 day weekend course. I'd say it took me till the 6 month mark till I felt like I was a competent teacher and doing a good job, before that I felt like a bit of a fraud.

  13. I completed a CELTA (4 week course, costs about a grand) and then taught in Vietnam for over a year. If you complete a CELTA you will get a job with better pay and conditions and actually feel like a semi competent teaching (there is still so much to learn in 4 weeks, it’s a very intense course). Of course you can get jobs without any qualifications, to be frank, I wouldn’t bother with the weekend courses. They aren’t worth the paper they are written on, hence why they cost £100. In my experience, which is all from SE Asia if you are applying for a job that accepts a weekend course as a qualification, then they will also accept you with no TEFL qualifications. They will be accepting you on the basis that you are a native speaker and probably white. A white person looks a lot better to the parents etc. We had a very good teacher at my school who was English born, her dad was Singaporean and parents used to complain about her...

I strongly considered the weekend courses, obviously the cost being the biggest issue as I’m sure it is with everyone. If you can afford it and have the time the CELTA is certainly the way forward. It depends on your confidence and personality, but it’s not as easy as you might think standing in front of a class for two hours and keeping them occupied or entertained. You can’t possibly be prepared for that over a weekend course. I would argue a 4 week course doesn’t even prepare you adequately. Not only will you get better pay with a CELTA but you also will have the correct VISA and not have to do ‘border runs’ and all that kind of shit if you go to Asia. The cost of the course would pay itself back after about a years teaching i’d guess.

I think it’s slightly harder to get a job online in Asia with no qualifications, but if you’re on the ground you could just walk around schools for a day and get a job. Vietnam is by far best pay in SE Asia. Thailand is shit, Cambodia seems to be a developing ESL country but nudge would know better. There didn’t seem to be that many reputable jobs there when I briefly looked online.

Japan and Taiwan you can earn good money, South Korea is very good money. All of Europe seems to be pretty poor money from what I’ve seen, South America likewise. Or if you want to sell you soul for a year go to Saudi Arabia and you can earn silly money. I knew a bloke that worked there for 2 years. Said he saved 60k but he hated every single second of the two years there. He said when he told them he was leaving they offered to double his salary, but he couldn’t stay there another day. He said he got iPhones and shit given to him as present on teachers day lol.

    I’ve rambled on

  14. Has anyone regularly (once a year) switched banks for the cash bonuses? I've been with the same bank all my life, but HSBC are currently offering a £150 switch bonus and then another £50 after a year. It seems catch free (apart form having to deposit  a certain amount per month into the bank and switching two direct debits)

From what i've read it seems pretty straightforward, but if it's too much hassle then i can't be arsed. A free £200 is not to be sniffed at.

By the way I know that Martin lewis is an annoying cunt but some of his articles are semi useful. Not the ones were you get a free sausage roll from Greggs if you spend a fiver or some shit like that.

Watched some of that fight back against Badou Jack, more to Groves than just being bald

Yeah only 3 career losses. Froch when stopped early, Froch KO when he was probably winning the fight and Jack in a split decision. Jack went on to d

  16. The more I think about this everything logically points to a Groves win. Eubank is just a bit of an enigma.

All the casual boxing fans will pick Eubank, that’s why he’s bookies favourite.

  17. I can’t wait for this. I haven’t been this excited for a British fight since Froch v groves 2.

I’mfavouring Eubank but it’s a genuine 50/50. Groves had the size and experience and is a bigger puncher, Jr has relentless work rate and has never been rocked by a punch. Eubank will have no game plan, he will just try outwork and outpunch groves into relentless submission. There is no other plan.

I think if Groves boxes to a game plan and doesn’t get involved in a tear up then he wins. If it’s a dog fight then Eubank takes it. I’m going with Eubank.

i hope Eubank wins, he’s young and has the potential to be a massive star and he’s always in exciting fights. Groves will be out of boxing soon, he’s been in wars and will be looking to get out with his marbles in tact especially with what happenedto To guy he fought a few years ago, whose name escapes me.

  18. All you hipsters with your 'unique teams' fuck that. My prem team is great. Bakayoko is the king of FIFA. Jesus is class. Mane, Bellerin, Rose, Bailley. I've got them all. I've just been promoted to division 3 online, finally getting up there.

I am thinking of changing up my team. Thinking of going Bundesliga and revolving the team around Aubemayang when I can afford him. There seems to be a lack of teams with him, why? his stats are outstanding. I also packed a TOTW Kostic who has good stats (never heard of him till I got him)

  19. Survived the knee op. I'm on day 4 now and the pain is easing. It's fucking awful for the first 72 hours or so though, zero sleep.

    The NHS is wonderful.

Don't know how he stayed up in the 11th!

What a fight. This cruiserweight WBSS is the best thing to happen to boxing for a long time. ITV’s advertisement of it has been awful.

Even in the 12th how did he get up twice?!?! It’s a shame he didn’t see the final bell. 20 seconds left.

  21. Golovkin is going to take your boys soul @Teso dos Bichos No leaving it to canelo and the cheating judges this time. Fucking dickhead DLH paying them off again.

Really looking forward to the next few hours of boxing. The cruiserweight division is one of the best in the world. Two British prospects andthe big semi final. Love the WBSS.

To think Usyk v Bredis wasn't meant to be as good as Gassiev v Dorticos and that was FOTY contendor.

Cheeseman v Jones a decent fight, final round. Cheeseman sees it out and he wins it by 4 or 5 rounds.

Chamberlin to win late on and Dorticos KO. Log it.
