Every single time Barcelona look to sign, or sign someone.... Hey presto! We get exactly the same post popping up.

I think that's the best descriptive word to use with any other club (right now) aside from Manchester City and Liverpool where genuine contenders is the term that's gonna be used. There are clubs that have stuff in their locker to get involved, but there are only two real genuine title contenders. I maintain this (oddly enough) even if neither of the two aforementioned clubs were to actually win it this season.
-
But that's my general point of view... Spurs aren't and haven't been proper contenders for the league title aside from the season Leicester City won it. Just because you're (you're as in any club minus Livepool or City) in and around the doable points gap doesn't mean you're a proper contender. The only other side in all of this debate that is occurring here in the Tottenham Hotspur thread are Chelsea. But Chelsea for some reason have become the side that come into the reckoning everytime they're ready for a cycle. In general with the players they have they should be genuinely in there with a shout, but right now even though you can see them easily going on decent runs, it won't be consistent enough for them to maintain the marathon till the end.
-
Honestly... If anyone is trying to genuinely imply that Arsenal were proper contenders when Leicester won the league title, I find that extremely funny because I can guarantee you that as an Arsenal fan it never felt like we were ever in it (maybe for a split second when we beat Leicester in the final seconds at home but soon came back to our senses) at all. I don't know of anyone that felt we were challengers and don't remember the subject being something of debate at The Emirates when going to the games.
-
You lost your nerve against Chelsea. The whole world saw that game and that was the general consensus. You were still in it.
-
It was an odd season. Just like when Wigan competed for and won the FA CUP.
-
Your list seems to have been lost in translation mate. Leicester won the league and 19 clubs ended up below them with the only competing club against them (Spurs) losing their nerve at the end and somehow managing the impossible and not even finishing runner-up.
-
Who didn't catch up to Leicester that season... Start the list

We could never bottle anything because we've been over performing of a considerable amount of time for a decade or so. There were no espectations with the realists and qualifying to participate in the Cahmpions League for so long just made us be part of a select number of European clubs from top leagues that were able to earn their shareholders more doe. So what are you exactly getting at mate?
-
Without a doubt it's very nice, but it's used with the less nobel cut of beef. Fillet steak is best done pan fried with just a dab of extra virgin olive oil in my experience.
-
Why would you ruin fillet steak with pepper corn sauce? That’s for the cheaper cuts.

What a day to be born... Happy Birthday @Stan

Happy Christmas to all and everyone of you. Wish you guys all the best in this blessed time of the year. Let's hope peace, understanding and respect suddenly hits the eyes' retina for once. Christmas greetings.

I get that mate. Let's see come the final moments of this campaign. I can easily be wrong, but for me the genuine title contenders with the obvious Machester City, are Liverpool. There's something about them. They have matured and are now real.

Coutinho is a brilliant player and he's got a long future ahead of himself at Barcelona. If Inietsa who is an authentic football legend of the worldwide game had to wait an age to become an authentic first team player, then Coutinho will pribably have to be five times more humble and wait. It almost sounds or reads like Ernesto Valverde has some sort of xenophobic hatred against Brazilians Trust me, and use common sense in an age where human beings vote for racists, for racist and xenophobic mantra that Valverde is only and singularly concerned with winning things. If he chooses any particular first XI for any given game, it's because he thinks that team has the best chances of winning or in some cases because Barça compete on all fronts, in all competitions with the objective of winning, then at times there are rotations. But I don't see Valverde as having a Brazil based phobia. You don't get the privilege of being like that at clubs like Barça or Real Madrid. They're watching you with judgmental eyes... Nobody's job is secure at coaching level with these types of sides.
-
The fact they've managed to be in some sort of anomalistic mix doesn't mean they're contenders in real terms. The only side that have evolved to be real contenders (authentic ones) are Liverpool. You can genuinely see them giving Manchester City (when the Manchester based club are thinking and still participating in the Champions League) headaches and maybe even more because they've become that good and that genuine. That's a contender... An authentic contender! Look... I don't want to batter Spurs with an Arsenal fan's funny stick, I'm not that kind of guy and in reality (although sometimes it may not seem so on here), I've matured and enjoy football in a more organic and a more humanely enjoyable manner. But they ain't no contenders, I don't remember them being genuine contenders for the title in... (I feel embarrassed because to be honest, they may have been contenders in my lifetime but I swear to you, I now don't remember when that was) many generations. As 6666 said, they had that campaign where Leicester City won the title where until the final month they were in it and WE... YES WE... ARSENAL in our decomposing state managed to finish runners-up in that very very odd Premier League season. Spurs haven't been contenders (genuine) on your and probably my lifetime mate. They have become much much better and I think we can muster up a debate in real terms where I can agree with you with the fact Tottenham Hotspur have become a more serious team in recent years. But contender? For what?
-
A consistent contender for what?
-
That’s what squads are for and we’re officially the sixth richest football on the planet. There shouldn’t be too many issues or problems with solutions for our coach.

I've always had the impression David Moyes was a character based coach more than anything else. I never observed a trademark game to him apart from the traditional format without complications (I may be wrong on that last bit). But the fact he was appointed to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson plays more into my mindset where Moyes is concerned... It's just that he always gave off the impression of being of the same no nonsense personality that motivated the players to believe that they were playing for something bigger than themselves, the crest and the history that revolves around it! That in itself is a large proportion of what coaching is, making players believe in the method they choose that functions best according to their character. David Moyes' departure from Everton and arrival at Old Trafford also coincided during a big transformation in the game, not only tactically, but also where player power and individual PR (where players are concerned) became something coaches had to deal with. It's become such a big part of running a squad that people are actually employed these days to run this part of the game that never existed before. It's ironic that probably the player that started all of this off had once upon a time been a Man Utd player coached by none other than Sir Alex Ferguson... I'm talking about David Bekham, the original walking, talking, one footballer PR machine. In other words I agree Moyes didn't evolve with the times and had Moyes taken over Manchester United maybe six years earlier, he'd have been the next greatest thing. It's all about "the time and the place"

Liste to these two voice recording from a popular radio show which is presented by Iain Dale, a staunch leaver. Since the past few months I've been complaining about the lies being told by the politicians themselves and in some cases just plain old ignorance and stupidity like for example Dominic Raab who all of a sudden one day was caught saying that he was shocked to find out that the Dover/Callais crossing was of utter importance to our trade movement. So not in all cases has it been blatant lies, but yes in most, if not 95% were fibbing, and everything you hear now on leaving the EU will be better in any way shape or form to remaining, ARE TOTAL AND UTTER LIARS! @Dr. Gonzo... What I was telling you about how the liars aren't being challenged when they use the media. Iain Dale blatantly tells this caller that he shouldn't change his mind and that the lawyer that has advised him is a liar... Can you believe that! Iain Dale on a national radio station tells this caller that the truth is a lie! There is a very big problem in the UK... There is a massive problem in the United Kingdom, and it's even more catastrophic (incredibly) than leaving the EU. This country is run by incompetence, the opposition is also incompetent and they LIE to trick you into believing what they want you to believe. We always thought politicians were fibbers, but Brexit has taught us and shown us that the problem is much much worse than first thought.

An authentic great of the game. One of the best centre-backs in the history of football without a doubt.

I've been lighting candles in my local church for quite some tim in the hope that it does actually happen. It would be absolutely hilarious and the tsunami it would cause within the club and its members would be a joy to watch. It was the majority of the Real Madrid members coupled with the powerful Madrid based press/media that forced Florentino Pérez' hand when he had to tell Mourinho to go. Nothing has changed in that sense and this without even going into or touching the important detail of that dressing room where a number of those player that were there when he was, remain. He didn't leave too many friends behind in that respect... The very few that did believe in his celestial powers are no longer there.
