Nothing beat the original Lucozade for flavour mate. Anyway... back on track (which is contradicting what this thread is actually about ), They destroyed a legacy with the recipe change and what was once something original and special, is now a substitute for bleach.

Yeah, for hydration it's probably not all that good and Lucozade ended up creating their own brand of isotonic drinks in the 90s anyhow. I think it just had to do wit the fact that if you were feeling poorly they would feel that glucose being an energy booster, then it would be good for you. This is the glass bottle it came in back when I was a kid And these are the adds (way before I was born) which shows what was thought of Lucozade and why you would see it in hospitals I would suspect.

Indeed mate, I kid you not. It would be seen as a given on absolutely every hospital bedside and you’d drink it if you wished obviously. Back in the day it wasn’t seen as a sports energy drink until Daley Thompson started advertising it on tv. Back then it was seen as a drink that was good for you. This was way before it was sold as a typical softdrink at your local newsagent as you couldn’t buy those 330ml bottles of it back then and there was only the 750ml glass bottle.

I believe that mate and I can relate back to the late 1970s and early 1980s where the typical drink seen at a hospital bedside was Lucozade. There are reasons for this and aside from that it tasted amazing unlike any other drink in my view.
  6. Jasper Cillessen is a fantastic keeper and he's been proving it time and time again with the chances he gets at Barça which have been quite a few. He has always risen to the occasion and makes some crazy saves. The only thing negative about him is that he sometimes switches off, but that hasn't happened hardly ever since he arrived at Barcelona and it's more of a feature of what had happened to him previous to arriving. He deserves to be a first team keeper at a top club somewhere else but every time he's asked he says he's happy there and loves it.
  7. I love listening to him and he mixes humour with brilliant football analysis which is why I subscribe to his podcast because I don't always have the opportunity to catch his show.
  8. The latest on that story (if it's to be believed) is that his agent has called Barça to offer his total acceptance to a possible move if Wenger doesn't leave in the summer. Under those circumstances I hope Barcelona don't answer back and I don't see Valverde and how he is, wanting a player that turns his back on the coach that made him what he is.
  9. To be honest I love Adrian Durham's daily slot and how he winds up the less intelligent Arsenal fans of which there are quite a few.
  10. Yeah you’re right, he won the Copa del Rey and got runners up in La Liga before he went to Real Madrid. He had the record for goals scored by Real Madrid and I think points? Remember that I don’t use Google with what I ever say and take it from the top of my head!
  11. And all that was done by someone very undervalued in the UK called John Toshack. I think he had another record Mourinho broke on points and goals scored. That Real Sociedad was something special.
  12. It's the way I see different positions mate and where certain things affect certain players. I get what you're saying and you may be right although history tells us that nothing can ever be turned into a blanket rule. Take for example Mesut Özil under Mourinho at Real Madrid who played his best football ever and the only reason he was ever benched by the Portuguese coach is because of his obsession with playing a double or triple pivot in big games. Dejan Savićević under Sacchi who was even more defensive than Mourinho was a master in that 10 role slightly coming in from the flanks. This is why I say it's not exactly the coach to blame here. Nobody can say that Hazard doesn't have character issues because the way he wrote himself off the Chelsea team sheets countless time in Mourinho's second stint isn't forgotten. Conte is nowhere near as defensive as Mourinho and even though I may be wrong and you maybe be correct in your response to me, something tells me Eden Hazard has a lot to do himself with the fact he isn't more of a protagonist seeing as the undoubted talent is there.
  13. Hazard has the potential to be amongst the best without a doubt. But he’s not because of himself and not Conte. Right at this moment it’s no surprise but De Bruyne is the best in this particular league and in the top three players in the world in my opinion. Hazard seems to have character issues which isn’t unusual with footballers. His football is very susceptible to how he seems to feel and THAT is a character trait that will never let you be amongst the utmost best.
  14. Hazard should definitely have more of a De Bruyne type influence because that's the area where you can create havoc. Salah on the other hand is a player that requires a Hazard/De Bruyne type figure to make the whole thing complete. I know what you're getting at though. Eden Hazard certainly seems to have slowly regressed from his earlier version a few years back.
  15. Since I sold my season ticket in the summer for the next two years (I was clever with my calculations) I can now afford a business class flight with a private masseur for you and a suite at the Grosvenor House hotel.
  16. Arthur Day in Barcelona It's been quite a long telenovela without reaching the epic scopes of Coutinho from Liverpool to Barça, but long enough with winding roads. The move is almost complete with both the player's agent Jorge Machado and the director general of Gremio Carlos Amodeo with the Gremio lawyer, Gabriel Vieira all in the city of Barcelona to finalise the deal. Barcelona based sports daily, Mundo Deportivo managed to get a few words from Carlos Amodeo when he was on his way to Barça headquarters where he comfirmed a few things with what should become Gremio's biggest sale in the club's history of nothing goes wrong. "We're waiting to find out exactly what time it will be for, but we're meeting both Pep Segura and Óscar Grau." "The negotiations with Barcelona have been smooth especially with Robert Fernández in Brazil. Although there's still a couple of things to go through before the deal can be done, we think it should be sorted out very soon." When asked what sort of player Arthur is like and what the Barcelona fans can expect, Carlos Amodeo said; "Arthur is still young but for us in Brazil we see him as a player with similar attributes to Spain and Barcelona's Andrés Iniesta. Obviously Iniesta is unique, but that's the best way to describe Arthur." The journalist then asked when would Arthur arrive if and when the deal is completed; " As things stand it will be for Europe's January window 2019 and not the summer. Barcelona wanted to put Arthur out on loan straight away in Europe, but we want and need him at Gremio for now. The negotiations are going well and everyone will just have to wait for official news from both Gremio and FC Barcelona as to all the fine details and the official signing."
  17. Great to see self criticism. Makes him bigger!
  18. All the top analysts believe that a change of coach right now would be madness and I was listening to The Times podcast the other night where their chief sports editor stating the same thing in that there are many things that need to be sorted where the owner of Crystal Palace who was also talking added that the present board at Arsenal aren't football people and have never had to fire anyone so hiring would be completely alien to them. This is why they brought in Raúl Sanllehi who is an expert at working in high end football boards and can direct but he does need the higher end of the board at technical levels to place a project he can look to work towards... Who on the board other than Ivan Gazidis who is good but has also been frustrated in the past for a lack of direction coming from above. How is a new coach going to be selected and what is he supposed to be walking into? Some people think this is that games console thing called FIFA.
  19. What the hell is rational when we've been going backwards for a number of years now? But then again you were optimistic for this season which to be honest is normal for you to think this way. It must've come as a real shock and blow to you to see us have such a disastrous season out of the blue.

Hahaha... Mate, I'm obviously not going around life angry about the situation revolving Lucozade. It's just that the subject cropped up and I demonstrated my feelings toward the change. There is a plus side to the sentiments though which revolves capitalism to be honest! I bet they never expected people to just stop buying it and for their sales to plummet.

That is ridiculous to be honest but nothing to do with this particular case mate. The Lucozade issue is one that affects generations before it... I drank Lucozade as a kid and remember the glass bottles with the foil top and orange/yellow transparent paper the bottle was wrapped in. Aside from nostalgia, the taste is 100% different and then you have the reasons behind their recipe change which are connected to the tax on sugar which is indirectly related to governments apparently wanting to offer consumers healthier stuff. But healthier isn't the reason as to why the makers of Lucozade changed their recipe and where it's totally connected to the former.
  22. I'm not saying they're not a global brand and also for me they're a million light years bigger than Arsenal in heritage of being successful. But that's not what I'm on about... Most top ranking Premier League clubs will get massive followings when they visit far away places but the Arsenal brand in today's football is massive globally. We don't merit it but then again the following the Premier League gets all over the world isn't merited either and it's all about the product packaging which is second to none.

I expect you've smelled it so we can start from there. There's actually a campaign that's been going on for a while to force the, to return to the original recipe. Just for background information, read this; https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/lucozade-fans-complain-soft-drink-lower-sugar-recipe-twitter-ribena-sugar-tax-obesity-a7687071.html https://metro.co.uk/2017/04/19/lucozade-now-has-less-sugar-and-people-think-it-tastes-horrible-6583610/ https://www.belfastlive.co.uk/whats-on/food-drink-news/lucozade-no-plans-change-recipe-13865011 https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/business/lucozade-sales-plummet-after-brand-11468144 https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3129579-Theyve-changed-Lucozade-The-CUNTS I love the last one!
  24. That's not true mate! There's a lot of bullshit in there and it's unfair to criticise what can be put in front of you as facts to what we have today. Wenger has been the voice of the board and has fed us all bullshit with stuff like "we can compete with what we have" or "we will sign players to compete this coming window" and then not sign anyone. Where did the money for Aubameyang suddenly come from?
