  1. Captain is fairly meaningless, and there does some to be a stoic, hard working quality to Ashley Young. As a senior member of the squad, you can see the logic. I would have thought they'd be looking for him to be a bench player more than anything though.
  2. More of a Holy Roman Empire style electorate than democracy. Also the usual anti-Revolution message you get from anything American was there. It was okay, all a bit 'nice' though. I can see why the true fans would not be happy.
  3. Brutal KO win for Wilder in the first round. He's got to fight Joshua next.
  4. Yes, I've heard some morons (the Jim Davidson type) say 'paki' is ok because it's just shortening like saying a 'brit', ignoring that it was used to describe anyone of south asian descent, and even middle eastern descent and became a word loaded with hate in the UK. No debating it is racist. There were times when it maybe wasn't such a hateful term, the use of 'paki shop' in Only Fools and Horses makes us wince now but I genuinely don't see it as having the same hatred within it, but the word has become owned by that now.
  5. People really hate this don't they. As a casual fan it's not really got to me too much, but does seem to quite lazy so far.
  6. I imagine they were contracted to play certain players, for at least some of the match.
  7. You're an intelligent fella and I wouldn't generalise to all Evertonians, as think Everton fans are generally sound, but there are are an element who end up agreeing with people who essentially slagging off anyone from Liverpool and not just Liverpool fans. Especially common with Manchester based fans, the 'dippers' stuff, that's aimed at scousers, very bizarrely considering Manchester is equally as impoverished, I'm not saying yiu should support LFC but these mancs aren't your mates. Liverpool fc as club and fanbase are very annoying and have a scumbag element but the manc media are trying to hijack it to slag off Liverpool people in general. Everton are the Liverpool team. 'peoples club'... I think they are.
  8. Both Manc clubs are utterly obsessed with Liverpool and scousers in general. It always bemuses me that Evertonians ever consider those clubs friends as most of their bile is directed at Liverpool people in general 'bin dippers' etc. While Everton have plenty of their own reasons for despising Liverpool, and there are many good reasons, the wretches from the streets of Manchester are not their friends either and if Everton were ever to become a direct threat they would be on the receiving end of the same shit.
  9. Take it as a compliment. They've just won back to back titles and nobody cares about it.
  10. Sanchez's piano shit was worse than this bollocks, yet...nothing. Pogba has been their best player.
  11. Sanchez has done a far worse job than Pogba has. The disparity in criticism is not justified.
  12. Who cares whether a young man 'dabs'? He's a bit of a tit, so what? It's the same strain of invective directed at Sterling, 'uppity negro' should know his place and behave according to the way we see fit!
  13. His performances have been utterly abysmal, far worse than Pogba's.
  14. Yes, there's definitely a resentment towards a confident, young black player that seeps out in the media and the narrative of 'lazy', 'ungrateful' primma donna. Pogba gets more stick than fucking Sanchez for god's sake.
  15. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48235092 I thought this would happen at some point, Pochettino applying some pressure in terms of Spurs competing at the highest level long term. If they win the Champions Leauge then it could propel them onto a new level but will they spend to match the ambition? The timing does seem a bit odd when everyone should be on a high though.
  16. His weight? I've been accused of trolling but I actually thought Higuain was fantastic once, at Real Madrid he was one of the finest strikers in the world. Seeing what he's done to himself with the constant eating has been truly sad.
  17. Always a danger a league rival can work you out a bit more. I thought Spurs were extremely unfortunate to lose at Anfield and arguably should have won in the second half. Then again I think Liverpool are just a better side than Spurs, so would be favourites. Ajax look brilliant, see how they get on tonight.
  18. Why would one fan on a talk murdoch 'spoil the season'? What a stupid comment.
  19. Just caught up with it. Bit disappointed tbh, the White Walkers are my favourites and wanted them to win. I'm hoping for some sort of comeback but can't see it.
  20. He's only been charged, there hasn't been a punishment. I doubt he'll get the ban grey did and may well get away with a fine.
  21. At 15/16 you know right and wrong. If he's old enough to make racist remarks and stupid enough not to delete them then it's his own fault. The andre gray case was the precedent because it involved comments made years ago.
  22. The only like for like comparison is with Andre Gray who was banned for 4 matches. So it isn't unprecedented or out of sync with punishment of other players. This is the worst thing about football, people who can't help but blather on about how it's unfair on them or their club if they get punished for something, be it a refereeing decision or the retrospective action. The hennesey affair was a mess from start to finish but it has no bearing on this.
  23. Need to do the job against Newcastle first, a difficult away game after a European game.
