Russia Banned From Global Sports for 4 Years

Russia have been banned from major sporting events by the World Anti-Doping Agency , including the 2020 Olympics and the 2022 World Cup because of their doping scandals. However, the ban does not stop Russia from competing at the 2020 European Championships. So Scotland, who finished just behind Russia in their qualifying group for Euro 2020, will not be replacing Russia at the Euros, much to the dismay of many hopeful Scottish fans. 

But an interesting fact about Russia's ban is that although Russia are banned for the 2022 World Cup, they will still be able to participate in the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup. They will only be banned for the World Cup, if they qualify from their qualifying goup, which sounds ridiculous to me. Given that the draw for the World Cup qualifying groups hasn't even been made yet, why allow Russia to compete in the qualifiers if they are going to be banned for the World Cup itself if they qualify? Either ban them completely from attempting to qualify or allow them the chance to qualify and let them play at the World Cup if they do qualify. 

Russia has 21 days to appeal against this ban.

Agree to ban Russia from the World Cup, but allow them to take part in the qualifying is ridiculous nonsense.
