We only have 4 points more than we did at the same stage last year mate.

Yes but you're much better this season and other teams are much worse...

Reckon anyone tells them they only won the title cos the rest of the league was shit

I do think there's some truth in it. That's no knock of Liverpool but the league really has been a wank standard again.

It's quite worrying how amazing Mendy looked under Jardim and how awful he looks after a few seasons of Guardiola.

I used to stick up for Guardiola 100% on his record of developing players but tbh his time at City has massively undermined him. Stones hasn't improved. Mendy has fallen off a cliff. Gundogan has declined you'd say. Otamendi looks worse than ever.

Not to mention the failure to integrate basically any youth.

The only players that really look to have improved with Pep are Sterling, Fernandinho and idk who else. Maybe Bernardo Silva, but he was outstanding at Monaco too. And to preempt the obvious shout , De Bruyne hasn't improved with Pep - he was voted best player in Germany in a year where he was up against peak Robben, not to mention Lahm, Lewandowski and other world class players. He's as good as he was then.

Guardiola's time at City has essentially been a perfect example of   some of his best qualities but also everything that he is criticised for. He's spent obscene amounts of money, in an extremely wasteful way, and built a team that can play otherworldly football and cruise past the competition with the wind in it's back, but that then implodes at the slightest hint of adversity.

😂 Mate they’re having a bad season after winning two league titles in a row and Mendy has come back from a broken leg (look what that done to Luke Shaw), bit over the top

mendy is broke due to his injures. can't compare him at Monaco where he looked good...guess it happens.

I think the owners won't mind not winning the league if it means winning the CL...thats the one they want

That's exactly what I'm saying, they've went from the sublime, almost unbelievable, to being absolutely nowhere near challenging. It's not even just relative to Liverpool, they're on track to get roughly the points tally of Guardiola's first season.

They're still not even 2nd, are they? Halfway through the season.

When you look at their resources and the quality and depth of their squad, they're - currently, in their current performances - in extremely poor shape. And the players evidently aren't improving, so unless another coach is coming in for next season, it looks like they'll need to spend several hundred million more to be competitive again.

It's almost Mourinho-esque. Build a squad to win a couple of titles, but then it falls apart.

sure they are are not playing at the level required but quality is still quality. hardly need a rebuild. sure Pep will want to spend plenty in the summer if nothing is won this season but as long as they are in the CL then the season is still on track. Liverpool are the best in the world right now and have been playing like it all season...3 trophies can still be won for Man City so yes lets not overreact.

They lost Kompany also, look how much Van Dijk improved Liverpool. City have just suffered the opposite.

How often does a side win back to back titles, to the level City have done after winning the English quadruple. Guardiola creates what has arguably been the greatest side to grace English football and now all of a sudden he’s a bit of fraud because John Stones is still hot and cold 😂

Every league winning side goes through a 2-3 year period together before a rebuild, Guardiola is still in charge and happy at City whereas Mourinho does everything he can to get out

Is he? Looks more mentally drained than he was at his final season at Barca, to which he admitted he virtually had no more energy for it.

Difference is this Man City board would lick his bollocks to keep him here whereas at Barce they were selling players he wanted and bringing in players he didn’t

44 points from a possible 60 is by no means guaranteed. It's remains an open race.

I wouldn't say it is an open race Liverpool should win it but it's not completely over
