Shawshank Redemption is a mediocre cliched overly sentimental feel-good movie.

Most superhero/comic book movies are crap.

Godfather II is better than Godfather I.

Saving Private Ryan has one great scene and is brilliant visually but the overall storytelling is awful.

Requiem for a Dream is garbage.

Interstellar and a Quite Place were original

I thought of Interstellar, but honestly feel like the whole idea of moving to another planet has been done a few times. Brilliant movie.

Quite Place is one I'm not familiar with.

Outside of Inception, their hasn't been any new material in Hollywood in the past decade.

This got me thinking...

I'd add Malick's Tree of Life to the list of innovative/experimental Hollywood movies in the past decade. But I agree in general that the 2010s placed a big emphasis on nostalgia resulting in a mass of reboots/sequels using the same formula.

I"m unfamiliar with this as well.

Wes Andersons movies are mediocre at best. Being 'quirky' isn't a replacement for being clever and funny.

My opinion is, while he's being quirky, he's also clever and funny. The Grand Budapest Hotel was brilliant.
