Might sound dumb, but are there any other big companies trying to get a vaccine in place other than Pfizer and BionTech? If so, do we know how close they are to producing one on a similar scale? @nudge looking at you and your scientific mind...

There's plenty in the works, and quite a few others in Phase 3 already too! I mostly use these two sites for tracking the progress:

Pfizer are the same company that makes Viagra so @CaaC (John) will need to watch out for any funny side effects because he is listed as number 2 according to who gets priority...

Pfizer developing the vaccine in question. Hopefully it's not too good to be true!

I've already seen people posting about how it's a secret conspiracy chip so that the pedophile rich people can control us all.

I don't know why i let idiots frustrate me so much.

A bit from the article in the link above. Pfizer took no money for research & development of the vaccine, despite what the US govt stated...

Quote

The news comes just days after Joseph R. Biden Jr. clinched a victory over President Trump in the presidential election. Mr. Trump had repeatedly hinted a vaccine would be ready before Election Day, Nov. 3. This fall, Pfizer’s chief executive, Dr. Albert Bourla, frequently claimed that the company could have a “readout” by October, something that did not come to pass.

Operation Warp Speed, the federal effort to rush a vaccine to market, has promised Pfizer $1.95 billion to deliver 100 million doses to the federal government, which will be given to Americans free of charge. But Dr. Jansen sought to distance the company from Operation Warp Speed and presidential politics, noting that the company — unlike the other vaccine front-runners — did not take any federal money to help pay for research and development.

“We were never part of the Warp Speed,” she said. “We have never taken any money from the U.S. government, or from anyone.”

Pfizer and BioNTech share the development costs equally, BioNTech also have a similar partnership with Fosun Pharma in China. They actually got financial grant of almost 400 million Euro from German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, but you don't hear them gloating about it. Nice to see the US government trying to claim it as their own achievement though xD

Pfizer doesn't need anyone's money when you look at all they own, I find it funny that the USG even tried to say they had a part in it. Nice to see them get to this stage and hopefully it goes further but it seems the medical community was right when they shared an optimistic EOY forecast for first viable vaccine.

And the Moderna one can be refrigerated at 2-8 degrees for a month or at -20 for 6 months, solving the logistics problem that the BioNTech/Pfizer one has. Great news.

So as of now, we had preliminary results of three vaccines, all claim efficacy of over 90%. The interim results of the Oxford one are expected to be announced soon, too. Looking forward to full papers, but it looks very promising so far...

We’re seeing a massive surge where I am (the last 4 days have been record numbers for the most positive tests in a day here), as well as nationwide. And because a big man child lost an election and doesn’t care about doing his job anymore (although I’m not sure he ever did), I suspect this is probably not going to go well in the US.

How great would it have been if someone just ran passed him while doing the interview in the street and smacked him in the mouth?

I know, violence isn't normally the answer, but in the case of Matt Handcock, violence would solve everything. It would be so satisfying.

Piers Morgan is s bellend aswell but it's great whenever he roasts clowns like this.
