xD it's like three posts but I look forward to linking the "Peru Appreciation Thread" or whatever it's called every time you mention Peru in other threads for the next few days ^_^.

106 in intensive care in London.

Something like 75% men.

Funny as I reckon my gf has what I have now but she only has sore throat and occasional cough whereas I reckon I've got very mild pneumonia if such a thing is possible.

Estrogen most likely.

It was the same in the research on mice with SARS and MERS too.

I got an email from the Canadian rescue mission or whatever it's called. Was expecting a call in to the airport but it was just them saying "we understand your situation". Hopefully they get this sorted soon. Like I probably said, I'd imagine it would be a call up of 8 hours prior.

Northern Italy went into lockdown March 8th, the rest of Italy March 9th.

I'm honestly a bit surprised at the amount of people who are depressed for being forced to stay at home. I get depressed a lot admittedly but it's not because I always stay at home. I get that sadness is natural for being alone for so long. I get it too, but it does surprise me how much people are in need to go out with their friends. Maybe it's because I stay at home a lot normally and my friends are mostly in another country so I've gotten used to it. Interesting (and also worrying) to see.

Excuse me if any of that sounded beyond ignorant xD

My mate is a operating theatre technician for a specialist service hospital and they’ve allocated their role by covid response teams. Basically all special service hospitals will be where co morbidity (an existing illness that is potentially fatal) patients are transferred at a certain point to these hospitals out of general. The  aneathetists have been told  their role is to preside over them while their immune system helps them or they die. Prioritising like Italy will be for ventilators and icu to go to others based on criteria.

to quote the Him “theres fuck all we’re going to be able to  do except watch them die, it causes sepsis of the lungs and at that point there’s fuck all they can do for you”

I think we will be at 1000 by next Friday

I'm an introvert and I have three house mates to keep me company. Not looking forward to it in the slightest if it happens here. You can be an introvert and still need the face to face contact of a mixture of people and colleagues and stuff in your daily life, not to mention the fresh air and change of scenery. In fact that's eminently normal.

I think it's just me really. I try not to be an introvert a lot but when I do I'm reminded why I'm like this.

It's really about finding something to do at home. I have plenty of activities to keep me entertained while I'm trapped in Peru so I'm not too upset at the moment.

In related (kind of news), we only get immediate family at my mums funeral. It will be in the church, blessing, straight out and burial. No frills. Absolutely gutted for her, but soon they’ll be people not even getting that, so you’ve got to take the positives.

That's really sad mate but as you say better now than in a month when things are worse. That will be a whole other level of devastating.

I'm glad I'm an introvert. I still go out on an occasional walk alone once in a while, keeping my distance from people, and to be honest, that's what I tried to do before Corona too. If I see a person I know from afar, and there's still a tiny little way to escape, I'm gonna take that shot.

Didn't know and I am really sorry to hear she passed away. Condolences to you and your family.

The virus is proving to be more fatal for men, so if you are a man who smokes has A blood type and are old than you're most likely to die, Sad

I hope we go in to lockdown to be honest. Crime figures in London dont appear to have changed. Driving to work yesterday I saw just as many cars as usual on the roads in areas like Streatham/Croydon/Mitcham and plenty of kids hanging round chicken shops. People just don't get the seriousness of being on the same trajectory as Italy.

Im quite introverted and love a night at home to myself, and I'm still going to work, but im already getting a bit bothered by the distancing.

I think it's just the idea that you're not doing it by choice. Normally I'd go for a pint or some food once a week or two, and that's enough group socialising for me, so it's not on paper a huge adjustment at all.

I think I'll need to be a bit disciplined and get back into some kind of schedule , like start reading a book a week, or practising an instrument every day for an hour, or going for a few more runs a week.

New York has 10,000 cases. US on the whole have over 700 currently in intensive care.
