Barcelona hit Eibar for 5 with Messi scoring 4 of those goals.

Real Sociedad beat Valencia comfortably 3-0.

But at half-time, Real Madrid are still drawing 0-0 away to Levante. A loss or a draw here by Real Madrid will mean that Barcelona will stay at the top of the La Liga table.

Hadn’t scored for four straight league games and you just knew that when he ended the ‘drought’ it wasn’t going to be just one or even just two. Also became the first player to reach 1000 total goal contributions in terms of goals plus assists, the irrepressible Leo Messi!

I did say that I had my question marks about Martin Braithwaite, and of course the jury is still out on how he’ll do but this was a very promising debut from him. Played a part in Messi’s 4th and Arthur’s goal, and looked very hungry and determined to do well and help the team.

Over in Valencia, Real Madrid controlled the match but looked very toothless in attack, they didn’t create too many clear cut scoring opportunities. Courtois *very* poor on the goal they conceded, did he intentionally decide to throw the match? xD But it was a great strike from Morales, credit to him as well, and it’s two points dropped for Zidane’s men! Barcelona head into El Clásico two points clear at the top of the league!

The biggest match in Spain today in terms of significance though, was the early kickoff. Absolutely huge win for Celta Vigo over Leganes, and of course it just had to be Barry Aspas to score the winning goal for them.
