Imagine spending that long sitting deep and then being told you’ve got to push up and press at a high speed. Football is played at a very fast pace, by the time they’ve heard the orders, they’ve already lost a couple of seconds which can be everything in football. When Simeone ordered them to press high they did it but at least a couple of the players didn’t press well enough and Liverpool were able to get out. What I mean is that high pressing is best dictated by the players and lead from the front.
