I really like both. The first one is definitely the more epic and iconic one, but I loved the second one better because of its complexity and thematical richness. De Niro in the flashbacks was one of his best performances ever, Pacino was also great, and I loved how they juxtapose the rise of Vito in the flashbacks with the fall of Michael in the main storyline. So Dr. Strangelove won over 2001 and Clockwork and Goodfellas won over Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. Also one movie from a franchise, so Godfather 2 missed out. Also wanted to fit at least one animated movie in the end. Chose Inside out over Kung Fu panda and Princess Mononoke. I did consider Big Fish (my favourite Burton flick) and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, but in the end I couldn't fit them. I absolutely loved it... Easily the best movie I've seen in recent years, and now also one of my favourite movies of all time. Thought you'd appreciate it.
