So what did they decide about the playoffs? Will they be taking place or just being scrapped?

They'll be going ahead.

Twelve individuals from English Football League clubs have tested positive for coronavirus in the past week.

The EFL said eight cases came from six Championship clubs, with Brentford publicly confirming one case.

The other four positive tests came at two League One clubs, from which only the four play-off entrants were involved in the testing process.

There were no positive results from the tests at four League Two clubs.

More than 2,600 players and staff from EFL clubs were tested during the past week, including 2,213 connected to Championship teams.

Championship side Bristol City said on Tuesday that one person from their club had tested positive for coronavirus, while League One Oxford United confirmed on 12 June that two people had tested positive from their club.

Those who returned positive results must self-isolate away from their respective clubs, as per EFL guidelines.

Players and staff at EFL clubs are tested twice per week, with different protocols implemented dependent on the nature of the positive tests.

The League Two play-offs get under way on Thursday with two semi-final first leg matches, while Championship fixtures are set to resume on Saturday.

Sunderland have been robbed but we just have to take it on the chin and deal with it unfortunately like we are used to doing over the past few years. What's another season in League One anyway

Third time's the charm. It took us three attempts after dipping out in playoffs previous two years. They say it only males you stronger...

Being honest, I think you'd struggle in the Championship currently unless you made big changes, so hopefully next season allows you a chance to build a team full of confidence that can fly up and attack the Championship with no real fear.

Ah no doubt we would struggle and we'd probably just get relegated again anyway. As hard as it is to say and admit, I'd rather we stay in League One and build up a team as you said and then hopefully it would put us in a good enough standing to be comfortable enough in the Championship. We won't be a Premier League team again for a long long while. What worries me is the financial aspect but hopefully that will all sort out one way or another without us being too much in the shitter.

Fears up to 15 EFL clubs could go into administration after coronavirus pandemic exacerbates football finances

A Government report has branded football’s present business model as ‘not sustainable’, with the likes of former Portsmouth boss Paul Cook current experiencing such troubles at Wigan.

Fears have been expressed that up to 15 clubs in the EFL could go bust after the coronavirus pandemic exacerbated football’s finances, with the game’s current business model branded ‘not sustainable’ by a Government report.

The Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Committee believes the Covid-19 crisis has shone a ‘stark light’ on financial issues below the Premier League.

The DCMS report covers the impact of the pandemic on elite sport in the UK and delves into issues in the game.

The 2019/20 season is nearing completion in both the Premier League and the Championship behind closed doors with supporters watching from home.

But clubs in Leagues One and Two voted to end the season early and final tables calculated on points per game, with only the play-offs in each division taking place.

Portsmouth have been through the turmoil of administration before but now find themselves under stable ownership, however the scene is not as clear cut for several other clubs across the EFL.

With no fans able to attend matches for the foreseeable future – Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said spectators could return in October – clubs are having their revenues hit due to fans not being able to come through the turnstiles.

And speaking to the Press Association, DCMS committee chair Julian Knight warned up to 15 clubs across the EFL are being monitored over the prospect of going bust in light of the crisis.

Mr Knight said: "There are 10-15 clubs on a watchlist right now in terms of whether they go bust. That's from the EFL. That is one in five.

"That would be absolutely tragic for many communities around the country. There needs to be a reset.

"This has been broken for years but the fact EFL clubs (now) cannot get people through their turnstiles means some of them are effectively facing extinction. They don't have the big TV deals that the Premier League does.

"Any idea there would be a government bailout is for the birds, in my view, when there is a £9billion TV deal at the very top of football. The football family needs to come together and work together in order to sort this out."

Still think penalizing Wigan was way too harsh. Many clubs appear to be struggling so that the FA are saying are that a lot of clubs should be expecting a points deductions for going into administration.

Absolute shambles.

Shrewsbury given permission to host pilot event allowing up to 1000 people in for their game against Northampton this weekend

It's actually 10 clubs in total that have been given permission to do it, spread across the Championship, League One and League Two.

Hopefully zero issues and this can be the start of moving in the right direction.

Leyton Orient have had some positive tests, called off their League Cup game with Tottenham tonight and shut down their training facilities indefinitely.

Hopefully this is an isolated incident but it has a horrible feeling of "here we go again" about it. The Premier League fixtures will probably survive but this just goes to show that the rest of the Football League can't afford to live in the same sort of bubble.

There's chat about it in the EFL Cup thread but some of their players were showing symptoms before their last EFL Cup tie last week and a league game as well, yet still carried on.

Tottenham probably won't mind this given their schedule!

I was reading on Twitter earlier re: iFollow that Away teams have to give the money from their first 500 streams to the Home team. Some teams aren't even getting 500 people to watch the games so are not seeing any money from fans/iFollow.

Better explained here:

The lower leagues are absolutely fucked. There’s no mandatory testing, which is a disgrace in itself and not the fault of the clubs. They cannot afford the level of testing required and it’s not subsidised in any way by The FA, Football League or anyone else and they’re going to have to play games in front of no fans for even longer given today’s government announcements, despite voting to end the previous season due to the loss of income from playing behind closed doors.

I’ll be amazed if we’re not another club down and another few more in admin before Christmas.

Honestly love my club. What a fanbase

I hope it starts a domino effect amongst fans in the UK to be honest. Was contemplating buying AFC Wimbledon and Crawley shirts for this season just to do my part. I'm sure the 50 quid will be worth sweet FA but hopefully a lot more people do the same.

Just posted this in the Match Day thread but our game has been called off after one of our players has tested positive.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54298824

Not all of our players have been tested as the club were advised that the incubation period of the virus is 5 days and the players were last in contact with said player 3 days ago...
