SPFL - Summer Transfers

football forum

Recommended Posts

With the season officially ended, clubs are starting to announce what players are being released at the end of their contracts.

O'Donnell is an interesting case. Normal thought would be that he would either have already signed a pre-contract agreement or have at least something lined up but, with all the uncertainty, seems to be taking a gamble and waiting for an English Championship team to make an offer. Has already rejected an offer from Dundee United that was an improvement on his contract at Kilmarnock. Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at Celtic or Rangers as a 'cheap' backup option.

Craig Gordon looks set for a return to Hearts. He's dropped off in the last few years, but should comfortably provide Hearts with a much needed upgrade. They never had a settled number one last season, and for a while before too.

Celtic face an almost impossible battle to sign Fraser Forster permanently this summer due to his extraordinary Southampton contract FOOTBALLER INSIDER.

Celtic will move for 33-year-old former England number one Joe Hart, who will leave Burnley at the end of this month if they cannot complete a deal for Forster. (Daily Record)

Just judging on paper, looks as if Motherwell and Hibernian have strengthen the best so far. Aside from Celtic, Rangers and a few more loan signings, expect not much more signings this summer.

Bet Rangers are glad they kept Hagi. Watched him a few times in the Europa League last season and he stood out. Thought Celtic would do more than just 1 signings so far.

Celtic always seems a bit slow in the summer window. Their fans have been annoyed with Peter Lawwell (their chief executive) over the last few about their hesitance to make moves before their European qualifiers are over and they can see whether they'll be in the Champions League or Europa League and it has tend to cost them in the qualifiers.

They have been strongly linked with West Ham striker Albian Ajeti on an initial loan deal with a £5.5M option to buy, and AEK Athens goalkeeper Vasilios Barkas.

Think at the start of lockdown it showed that Celtic and Rangers were in the top 5/10 teams in Europe that depended on matchday income, so spending might be depended on some sales (especially with Morelos and Edouard).

Alfredo Morelos: Lille nowhere near signing Rangers striker - Steven Gerrard

Lille are "nowhere near" striking a deal for striker Alfredo Morelos and the Colombian should keep his focus on Rangers, says manager Steven Gerrard.

Discussions have been held between the clubs, but no fee has been agreed despite reports in France that the Colombian has agreed on personal terms.

Morelos will travel to Aberdeen for Saturday's Premiership season opener.

"This will work itself out if there is an offer that's big enough that the board want to accept," Gerrard said.

"We'll make that decision when it comes. At the moment, we're nowhere near that, so Alfredo is still a Rangers player."

Kemar Roofe appears set for a transfer to Rangers. Belgian media report it's around a €5 million fee and will sign a four year contract. Seems to have done well for Leeds in his time there, with a decent goalscoring record.

Not a bad signing. Think he did well at Leeds but they needed/wanted better players and it paid off. Think he'll do well at Rangers.

Is he replacing Morelos?

I'd reckon, going by the reviews by Leeds fans, he'd play on the right of their 4-3-3 alongside Morelos.
