Transfer Window - What Does Your Team Need?

Recommended Posts

Though you wouldn't have thought it given that the Premier League hasn't decided whether or not to let the Newcastle takeover go through 4 months after a bid was accepted for the club...the transfer window opens in 6 days.

What does your team need to do to kick on next season?

Striker, right back, left back, winger.

Not in that order but striker is needed.

Gonna have to bolster our squad regardless of which European competition we're in. The last games of this season since the restart has shown so badly how weak our squad is after the starting XI.

It worries me how our recruitment could be this window. Could set us up for a good few years or could screw us up this season if we don't get it right to manage a few competitions.

I think we need to sell Lovren and bring in another 4th choice CB that’s on lower wages.

We need depth in attack. Origi’s a cult hero with us for last season, but if we had a long term injury to any of the front 3 and we had to reply on him for a while.

Centre Back - Need Ben White, please. Absolutely pivotal to the way we play from the back and could quite possibly England's future centre back. He's smitten with the club but we've a lot to do to make that happen.

Left Back - We used a utility player last season in Stuart Dallas to plug this gap and whilst he acrually had an unbelievable season, and a serious dark horse for player of the year, I don't think we'd get away without a specialist in this role.

Winger - Benrahma has been touted and he would be ideal. However, this is totally dependent on Brentford staying down. Nevertheless, he would improve us without a doubt and give us more strength in an area we are heavily dependant on.

Attacking Midfielder - Pablo Hernandez is great, but he is 35. I don't know what kind of impact he can make at this level anymore. Leeds journo's have said we like Buendia at Norwich and I'd gladly take him but we will see.

Striker - A significant upgrade on Bamford. Let's be totally honest. A few names linked but I can't help but feel it's all broken biscuits because it's Leeds.

I think Chelsea will pick up Antoine Griezmann whom is unsettled at Barcelona to play with a 4-4-2 partnering Timo Werner up front. On the flanks it's a natural assumption that if Pulisic takes on wing, it'd be prudent to sign a well-rounded half-winger like Koke. So with Koke on the right, that means that a more attacking fullback would be needed, and I think it makes sense for Dani Carvjal from real madrid. He has achieved everything so it's only natural he needs a new challenege

We need shift players on and replace them with younger players that have sell on value.

We also need to get a grip of the contract situation as about two thirds of our team have contracts expiring next summer.

Realistically I think we can only shift on Sakho and Meyer who will have some form of demand. Id be tempted to leave Sorloth to complete his loan if were not going to get rid of Roy this summer in the hope he will be willing to play again next year.

So thats a young(er) CB and a young(er) CM. Roy will no doubt spend a year sucking any confidence out of the CM and turn him in to another DM though.

Any funds we have really need to be spent on a target man or a wide player. We're not expecting a striker to score heavily with our style of football, but we could do with someone who can bring Ayew and Zaha in the game well. If that type of striker cannot be identified then Wickham should stay for another year and we look at bringing in another crrative, quick, wide player with whatever money we have to spend.

I've seen us linked with a couple of League One players. Namely Flynn Downes and Alex Bass.

We need a centre back, around 22-25 in age, with a bit of speed. No Soyuncu totally screws us.

We need a left back as Chilwell will likely be off.

Absolutely categorically need a winger, or a wide forward, you know what I mean - who is actually likely to score and create, somebody the opposition are scared of.

Another striker as well in my opinion. I wonder if now is when we look to spend fairly big on a forward again.

Actually think another central midfielder too - somebody with a bit of bite.

Honestly, Congerton worries me, if Ryan Bennett is a glimpse into our future recruitment then god help us.

We need a CM - in a holding role, like Henderson where he’s not your traditional CDM but does a lot of the work you want in the role. I think Hojbjerg is the one Mourinho wants and assume a deal will yet done.

ideally we need a RB and a CB also, potentially the Korean lad. Also desperate for a back up striker as usual but don’t think we will get one. I’d like a left back also personally

Do you think Kane will go?

I know it's probably a question you get tired of xD. But how long does he leave it to want to win trophies (not a dig) on top of all the goals he scores?

We need quite a lot...

GK - Stekelenburg is leaving, I don't know that Joao Virginia is ready to be a number two and he certainly won't pressure Pickford (who needs it). We need a second choice goalkeeper. We could consider actually getting a potential replacement for Pickford and having them fight it out for the number one spot but given how much money we need to spend elsewhere I think we'll get an experienced goalkeeper as a backup for Pickford for quite cheap.

RB - I don't want to see us take up the option on Sidibe. I can't see us challenging the top six next season so I'd like to see Jonjoe Kenny given the season to contend with Coleman and see if he's got enough about him to at least establish himself as our second choice right back or better after his good season in Germany.

LB - Baines has been offered an extension for another year but hasn't signed it yet. With two weeks left, it may be that he ends up leaving in which case we need to get some cover in for Lucas Digne. I can see us doing this with a season-long loan depending on how much we spend on permanent transfers elsewhere.

CB - It would be silly to base decisions on 2-3 appearances by Jarrad Branthwaite but as a fourth choice centre back, I think we might be able to rely on him. Holgate has blossomed this season and both Mina and Keane have played well alongside him so can compete over the other spot. I think we'll be alright here.

CM - Hopefully after the last game we'll see the 4-2-3-1 treated as the formation going forward. Gomes is obviously going to be one of the two as first choice. Gbamin was meant to be his partner but I don't know how we can rely on him at all after all the injuries so we really need to bring in a dynamic deep-lying midfielder who can defend and also bring some forward passing to the table. Davies needs a loan in my opinion. I'd happily see Delph fuck off but if we need to keep him for depth to enable Davies to go on loan to the Championship or maybe a newly-promoted side then so be it. We might need two players here with Schneiderlin now gone.

CAM - Ideally, we would replace Sigurdsson but that depends on someone being willing to buy him. Iwobi is our other option here, I hope that he gets a run in that position because I think it's the one where he could potentially flourish.

RW/LW - Bernard and Walcott aren't going to push us into the top six. Again, whether we can upgrade them depends on anyone being willing to take them off our hands. Richarlison is obviously the standout option in these areas and hopefully Gordon improves throughout next season but really I think we need to get a quality wide player, preferably on the right so that Richarlison can continue to come in from the left.

CF - Calvert-Lewin is a decent first choice here as long as he continues to add to his game. We need to see more from Moise Kean next season. I personally wouldn't splash the cash in this department.

Summary:

- A second choice goalkeeper who can preferably actually challenge Pickford.

- Cover at left-back for Lucas Digne if Baines doesn't sign the extension.

- A central midfielder who can defend, run and pass.

- Upgrades in wide areas and attacking midfield if we can shift out some of the existing bodies.

This summer? Not a chance. Who has the money to buy him? Think next summer is the one if we don’t win anything.

However clubs he can go to is very limited. I think he wants to stay in the Prem too cause he wants shearers record.

Its basically City or United. Got a sneaky feeling it could be City now Pep has seen how toothless they can be without Aguero and how bad Jesus actually is.

Yeah I was thinking City. Would score at an alarming rate if he stays injury free in that side. When you look at how Aguero scored his goals, Kane would flourish as well.

When you think he only needs 119 goals. He's only 26.

Even if he played for another 10 years (not impossible or inconceivable these days). That's only 12 goals per season on average. He'll smash the record I think. Regardless of clubs.

Not sure I fancy that to be honest. Especially if it was a £10-15m fee.

I should imagine last year of his contract you'd happily flog him now mind.

Would be more like £5 million. Last year of his contract, we want him gone
