No strong feelings for Villa in general but very happy for Dean Smith, not a fashionable name but he done a great job at Walsall and with us. Keeping Villa up has been a mammoth task, I’ve gone into detail about why it’s been so hard for Villa considering years of poor recruitment. Hopefully they keep him on and give him the chance to build a side and build on what they’ve got this season.

That VAR mistake vs Sheffield United has kept Villa up. I can see a court case brewing.

There have been loads VAR mistakes this season...mistakes throughout with refs and linos too. Can’t imagine anyone will have much of a case

“Mistakes” aren’t the same as the watch not working. This is beyond human error.

It is literally an error though. Didn’t they forget to turn it on?

Anyone still think VAR is a good thing?... apart from Villa fans that is xD

Fuckin shit!

VAR is good it's just been handled badly, the problem is those in charge have found it hard to find the line. The handball rule has been a massive issue and should be scrapped, the fact that the ball can strike someone's arm and definitely not be considered handball can then scrub off a deserved goal moments later because the ball touched the arm, regardless of it not being handball, is mad.

Gabriel Marcotti made a valid point around it taking time to find the right refs for VAR, some refs are better on the pitch, some as lino's, some as 4th officials...we'll find those who are best with VAR and keep those who aren't away. Different skill sets.

I've thought about teams have a set number of challenges like in Tennis but then maybe teams having challenges isn't a great idea, but they need to make sure VAR is used for very specific reasons that don't consistently happen throughout the game. VAR is good, it makes good decisions, but it can also take too long and occur too many times within a game. But for VAR to be used correctly within the game it needs to recognise that there is a large margin for error within football and it shouldn't be used to try and completely narrow that margin, we only wanted VAR for the big issues. That's where people get pissed off

Villa have been absolutely awful. So lucky to stay up after spending all that money, in a year where there has been three more exceedingly poor teams.

But fair play to them, they ground it out when needed by the skin of their teeth. Credit where it's due.
