2020/21 UEFA Champions League Qualifiers

Recommended Posts

RB Salzburg have one foot in the Champions League group stage after their 2-1 win away to Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel. Krasnodar also got an important 2-1 at home to PAOK, but I think that tie is far from over as the Greek side are very tough on home soil.

Tonight, I am looking forward to the Gent v Dynamo Kyiv match which kicks off in a few minutes time. Yaremchuk, Bezus and Plastun, Gent's 3 Ukrainian players all start against Dynamo Kyiv. The Belgian side will be hoping that they and the rest of their players inspire the team to an important win. However, I am particularly interested in seeing how Yaremchuk of Gent and Supriaha of Dynamo Kyiv perform. These 2 young forwards are the two most bright, up and coming Ukrainian strikers. They both face off this evening and it will be interesting to see how they both perform in this important and high pressured match.

There are three Champions League qualification matches tonight. Hungarian side Ferencvaros host the Norwegians Molde in a closely balanced tie that finished 3-3 in the 1st leg in Norway. While Greek Champions Olympiacos travel to the Greek speaking part of Cyprus to play Omonia Nicosia. They take a healthy 2-0 lead to Cyprus, however the hosts Omonia Nicosia will hope to overturn that result on their own ground.

The hardest task of the night probably lies with Belgian side Gent, as they lost their home game 1-2 to Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv. Dynamo Kyiv not only won in Belgium, but they also hold the advantage of bagging two away goals. The Ukrainian team should be full of confidence tonight as they host Gent in Kyiv.

Dynamo Kyiv duly take an early lead through Buyalskiy!

It was a lovely finish by Buyalskiy as well as he backheeled the ball into the net after a great cross and some inventive work by Supriaha down the right flank.

Dynamo Kyiv 1-0 Gent
