Yes agreed, i mean the man can fight. It was never in doubt and i never thought otherwise, he sells his fights. He done well for himself but to call him a GOAT etc it is silly.

Put it this way mate...

I've never in my life seen an MMA fight or whatever it's called...  I don't know anyone that's seen one in my circle of friends and I have a couple of mates that are massive on boxing.  But by the time this fight took place I felt as if I knew Conor McGregor's whole life story and had lived every second of every fight he's had in whatever the ring is called in an MMA fight.

That's how well he's sold himself over the past couple of years as far as I'm concerned.

McGregor fan boys saying he would murder Floyd in a MMA match? Really? Did at any time Floyd claim he would win in the Octagon? Or was it the big headed Irish man that claimed he would walk through him in a boxing match?

Floyd said he'd beat him in the octagon during the press tour but it was just verbal sparring

MMA/UFC is promoted like wrestling. You just got worked by McGregor.

He would probably get killed in the Octagon

No probably about it, Conor to varying degrees of success tested Floyd, add into that Conor's expanded arsenal and Floyd would have been KO'd via headkick. I've sparred several Kick boxers & MMA practionors and they keep a larger range and dart in as Conor does, with that extra range they have room to kick etc. Floyd would have had to be reconditioned to that otherwise he'd get kicked in the head as boxers never look at the feet you look at head and torso and you keep within extended jabbing range. After 30 years Floyd isn't going to learn enough in a fight camp to overcome that let alone the grappling he's got no chance you can't break that habit, Conor's instincts for example kicked in at times with grabs & clinches. Conor gave up a massive amount to compete in that code for me he did very well regardless of your personal thoughts on him, that's one of the most impressive things I've seen in a sporting arena for sometime. It's a classic case of a specialist vs an All rounder and the all rounder did better than some specialists I've seen. I genuinely think Conor could be fairly successful as a boxer I think if he'd had 10 pro bouts and more ring craft that becomes a much more closer fight, he'd beat Paulie.

Yeah, I think to disregard McGregor after the loss is a bit of a shitty thing to do. Yeah, he said all this trash talk about ending the fight in the first round but Christ he was selling a right, promoting something that on paper seems ridiculous. He did better than any boxing fan thought he would, he lasted ten rounds with on of the best boxers ever and only lost because of his fatigue.

He didn't get punched out, it was clearly exhaustion and nothing else that ended that fight. I'm disappointed that his cardio wasn't better, would have like to have seen it go the distance and a second wind come in the last couple of rounds. As a fan of McGregor I am proud of his attempt and achievement to have landed more hits than a lot of boxers have in the past.

It's simple ring craft you never go toe to toe for 12 rounds you take breaks, you tie up catch a breath etc when it's that sort of volume being thrown. Conor didn't have that experience and Mayweather made him work an awful lot missing punches still takes it out of you as it's expended energy. Mayweather just basically let Conor punch himself out or pressured him to make him work harder and once he was done he started to work.

You've gotta be joking? Fair play to him for getting the fight and last ten rounds, I don't think anyone will say he can't box as otherwise he'd be out quickly. But Mayweather allowed him those punches, this won't go down as one of his hardest fights and I think to anyone watching it never looked in doubt.

Did I say at any point that McGregor was winning the fight? I said that he landed punches, which is the case. Don't give me that crap either "oh Floyd let him land all those to tire him out"...yeah, that might have been the game plan but it certainly wasn't in the plan to eat uppercuts or hard shots to the stomach. Floyd got caught with a good few hard shots in the fight, and its not because he allowed it to happen.

Wow some of you are so bitter. You miserable cunts.

Mayweather was very open in the fight and took a lot of shots off McGregor, who I thought did well to win the first few rounds and land as many shots, given how everyone had written him off and labelled the fight a joke.

Mayweather is without doubt one of the best ever, and he's adjusted with age to get the dominant wins on points. If you jump on the boring bandwagon then you obviously aren't a fan of the true art of boxing.

He's risen through the weights and fought bigger and stronger men and also schooled them (Canelo, for example.) So obviously as he's got older the knockouts won't come as often.

There's nothing talented about taking loads of shots and permantly damaging yourself, he's come out of boxing with 50 wins and no losses without a scratch on him. Fighting, beating and schooling the best of his generation.

Also to those slating McGregor for talking himself into the richest fight in history... why? The man who was broke 5 years ago has now become one of biggest stars across any sport. He's one of the best self promoters I've ever seen and he's taken UFC audiences to a new level.

Going to watch this again tomorrow because I'm hearing shouts from some that Conor had Floyd hurt quite badly at the start of round 9, only for the ref to intervene and claim it to be a low blow. I had a quick look and the, Floyd does look a little iffy standing back up straight so I wouldn't like to think the ref did that to give him a break. We'll see when I watch properly.

Watched the fight again. Here's my full take, bear with me.

Round 1 - Conor. Stays on the front foot anx lands couple hard body shots and a nice uppercut. Floyd looks surprised.

Round 2 - Conor. Continues to land good shots, especially when Floyd tried to close the gap. This round is where Floyd started with the back turning, which the ref did nothing about.

Round 3 - Conor. The jab kept landing through the round. This round is also where the rabbit punches started. The ref rightfully telling both of them off for back of the head punches and the crouching down.

Round 4 - Conor. Conor starts to look gassed. Floyd starting walking forward and landing good body shots, but Conor is still catching him with that jab regularly. Ref tells Conor off for leaning on Floyd but says fuck all to Floyd for crouching and turning the back.

Round 5 - Floyd. Conor is knackered, looks like he's punched out a bit. Floyd takes advantage and lands plenty of good shots.

Round 6 - Floyd. When I watched it live I had this as easily Mayweathers round but having watched it back I don't think it's that simple. It's closer than I remember, but I still give it to Floyd for the aggression. I thought Conor looked fresher in this round than the last.

Round 7 - Floyd. Easily Mayweathers round. Conor just had no power in anything and wasn't protecting himself. It was too easy for Floyd to land shots. The fatigue returns with a vengeance.

Round 8 - Floyd. Nothing spectacular from Mayweather but he continues to pick up the points by taking advantage of a knackered Conor. He's outboxing him but he's not battering him at all.

Round 9 - Floyd. Conor starts the round with a brilliant flurry, including a great body shot with really hurt Floyd and put him in the corner. The ref comes in and saves his boy and claims a bullshit low blow. That fucked Conor big time, used all his energy at the start of the round. Bullshit refereeing gives Floyd the win in this round.

Round 10 - Floyd. The fight ends a little prematurely for my liking but he wasn't defending himself properly. He loses the boxing match but by no means has he been giving a beating. He got beat by fatigue.

Overall I had it 5-4 to Floyd

Summary

Conor did brilliantly I thought. Yes, his chance went after round 4 really. He punched himself out early and it's just a shame he didn't prepare for the long haul better. The commentators on sky sports are such assholes though, especially Froch...he has his tongue firmly up Floyd's arse all the way through. Gave McGregor no respect at all. The referee disappointed me in round 9 and I think he should have been better when it came to the rabbit punching and especially Floyd turning his back. Mayweather deserves great credit, he was very composed and actually walked forward and put on and aggressive showing. It was an entertaining fight, and even better watching a second time.
