Providing the spending slows down at some point, unless they miss out on Europe for 2/3 seasons I don't see how they will breach FFP due to amortisation. Some of these players are signing very lengthy contracts.

Mind you the prospect of having a load of Winston Bogarde's on the pay roll for years on end can't be a nice thought.

It may just be a case of spending as much now before the FFP revenue on fees drops from 90% to 70%.

January and this summer is probably where the majority of the investment Boehly/Clearlake brought in will be spent.

It's a gamble to ride the wave with these young players in the hope they develop to their potential. If it works, its high reward considering we are set for a very long time.

Agreed to sign Lyon RB Malo Gusto. Loaned back to Lyon for the rest of the season.

Ecstatic about that. Given James' injury record, having another top RB at the club creates more stability.

🚨 Chelsea have reached an agreement in principle with Lyon to sign right-back Malo Gusto for €30m + add-ons. 19yo France U21 int’l will remain with #OlympiqueLyonnais until end of season before joining #CFC in summer @TheAthleticFC after @FabriceHawkins https://t.co/qwArE3ApNc

UEFA is still said to impose retrospective amortization rules from the start of the 2022/2023 season.   what it will mean is that despite the 8 year contracts all of these deals will be calculated off 5 years

Nope. Starts summer 2023 and will not apply retrospectively.
