The Artful Dodger 1,831
Remember having really high hopes for this lad when he first went to Everton, he then got 'Allardyced' but took a brave step going to Germany and initially looked good. Then it seems to have all gone West, not sure Fulham will be able to get the best from him either.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ 7,644 Posted October 1, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted October 1, 2020 It's true that Allardyce wasn't exactly sympathetic towards him but he had ample chances to impress at Everton. Koeman gave him lots of opportunities after the debut goal against Man City but he fell out of favour because he didn't really take them, which is fair enough as he was very young. He actually missed most of the Allardyce reign because that was the half season he was on loan at Leipzig. Silva and Brands then fought to keep him that summer when Leipzig wanted him permanently. Again he failed to establish himself when the club had gone to great lengths to make him feel wanted and as if he was a part of the club's future. I'm surprised Leipzig still paid so much for him after he'd had a season on the fringes of our first team but he hasn't established himself there at all this time around. He's got bags of talent and he'll find himself a side where he can flourish to an extent but at the moment he looks like he has all the hallmarks of a Wayne Routledge or Scott Sinclair type where he has loads of talent but never puts it together. In fact, Celtic or Rangers would possibly be an ideal endgame for him.
