I'm convinced the guy only cares about two things: his own ego and his bank balance. Him being president allowed him to funnel a lot of money into his hotels and golf courses (especially as he'd force the Secret Service security detail into staying at those hotels/golf course resorts - and he golfed fucking constantly).

Once he was no longer president, he couldn't just funnel US treasury money into his bank balance. I don't think it's really coincidental that Jared Kushner got $2b from Saudis for an unspecified investment - I think they've been doing illegal deals.

Yep bang on. The guy is a grifter first and foremost. Spreading the lie was just another grift, he raised so much god damn money long passed when he could even try to litigate anything related.

Kushner got bailed out of that 5th avenue? the iconic street I believe in NY where he was losing a fortune on a development project and all of sudden the Saudi's bought it out for well above market price. This is all along the timeline of when MBS assassinated the journalist in the Saudi consolate in Istanbul. Trump was one of the few that wouldnt connect MBS to that despite the mountain of evidence and even the CIA statements/conclusions and even his fellow republicans back then. Trumps first visit was also to the Saudi's as president if I recall.

like everything else in the last 7 years the only "proof" is opinion or speculation ie: none.

Anywho Liz got voted out in a complete reverse of her landslide appointment in 2017.  If she wants to run against Trump or DeSantis she will get humiliated like her pops.  she is an old school Rhino rich class Republican that doesn't give a crap about people just wealth, she got dumped out by a person that actually had a campaign instead of "Youngkin'ing" it.

the days of our lives real world soap opera that is america is on a roll.  A country that puts "nuclear codes" into a file binder labelled "classified nuclear codes" and gives them to the president.   as if.   it is like nobody watched crimson tide.

Old Mitch had quite the statement the other day. He says they may not win Senate control citing "candidate quality" Love it. Watching the nutbar that took out Cheney's seat and Dr Oz etc etc. Unfortunately for Mitch and Cheney the party isnt what it has been for their lifetimes anymore. Trumpism is here to stay and the mountains of idiots will never stop now that they have a lightning rod. Cheney did have some hints in her concession speech about running for president, one last attempt to try and have a real Republican party again I suppose.

I think she's going to run to split the vote between real republicans and whoever the MAGA-cult candidate ends up being - Trump or DeSantis most likely.

Interestingly enough, it appears a member of Trump's inner circle has trashed his own "best defense" of the FBI raid situation with the classified documents - he claimed he had declassified the documents because he could just declare them declassified. Former White House counsel Pat Cipollone has said they don't have the paperwork to declassify the documents in question. This demonstrates that:

  1. There's a proper procedure for declassifying documents that Trump was aware of
  2. The procedure requires documentation
  3. He understands the procedure, or at very least the legal representative of his administration understood the procedure

So he knew he can't just declassify info by simply declaring it declassified. He knew there was a procedure to follow and document and he did not follow or document it. So what would be his legal defense now?

That he can't tell right from wrong because he's never faced any accountability for his crimes? If that's the case, he's not got the moral character to be in any position of power.

How does that make her a RINO (not rhino, it stands for "Republican in Name Only") if she has the actual conservative values of the republican party? This new wave of Republicans with no real actual values and no real plan for governance other than tax cuts for the wealthy and promoting culture wars and division are the true RINOs.

They're both linked by their slavish devotion to the ultra-wealthy and corporations, but outside of that... there's a smaller wing of the party that stands by the party's ideological principles - and then team MAGA that's taken the reigns which really only cares about using culture wars and identity politics to divide the country so they can retain power.

The media, of course, loves the MAGA cult because their pushing of division - and when they're in control of the executive branch, the scandals they generate on nearly a daily basis, generate people giving them the clicks and views that keep the ad revenue paying them. So it's no coincidence the US is doomed to having it's electorate having to wage culture wars foisted upon them instead of voting for serious people who are driven by political ideology.

Liz Cheney is one of the most conservative republicans around. I will absolutely never agree with 99% of her policies but if she isnt a republican that party is an abomination. She voted something like over 90% with trump policies over his 4 years as a side bar. The Organge orangutan came up with yet another dumb catch phrase his dogs lapped up labeling anyone that has a brain and disagrees with him a "rino".

Partly why I think its a very good sign if Cheney's thinking about running. Give the real republicans one more shot at being a party, having policies, having stances and plans instead of the maga conspiracy theory empty rehtoric thats been plaguing them and taking over seemingly.

Yeah, Liz Cheney (and her father before her) are definitely not people you can call RINOs - their party's traditional ideology is who they are at their political core.

I hate her political beliefs, personally, but I don't think she's as morally depraved as the MAGA-cult brand of republicans. Her and Kizinger (idk if that's his name, but it's close at least) are repugnant politically, but are at least true to the values of their party and not white nationalists. Meanwhile the MAGA branch of their party seems to be primarily ideologically driven by white nationalism, religious fanaticism.

They do both crossover in their craven loyalty to the billionaire class and corporate interests though.

I will not say Liz Cheney is a "typical republican" at all,  she certainly has done nothing but get rich,  and did so by riding the popularity bandwagon.   She did nothing for her electorate so they democratically removed her.   That comparing of herself to Abe Lincoln and then mentioning wars is just toffee.   She is acting like a judge in some faux pas enquiry where she is deep in the pocket of the super rich that are running the mental asylum.

I will agree that the media are hell bent on poisoning the waters with lies and drama,  but sadly they are losing.   Brian "puberty ignored, baldness didn't" stelter the next cancellation.

This is exactly what I would describe as a typical Republican politician from the post-reagan era. Almost every senator is like this. They seem to operate with complete dishonesty in terms of what their real aims are, and for most of that time have implemented policies, economic policies in particular that are more likely to hurt their average base voter than help them.

Careful on the slavery thing, the Ottomans and the Arabs have their unpleasant history too.

Lets not forget that Africans being sold as slaves made have saved their lives if they were prisoners of inter tribal conflicts.

My brother has a Spanish wife and people of certain skin colours are kept out of the cities by the police and no-one seems to mind.

joe Biden breaches the doctrine of separation of powers by assuming the power of legislature to pardon debt.   this is going to spiral into 2023 and 2024 where there will be increased taxation to pay off increasing federal debt people will be so poor in a years time they will beg for Trump.

The Irony is never ending. The guy literally signed a bill you might as well call "the hilary email bill" which made mishandeling of classified doc's a felony. Goodluck trying to worm your way out of this one.

Fyi the redacted Affidavit was released today. Just getting into it but basically the FBI opened the investigation in Feb when they where contacted by the National Archives.

Yep number of stories breaking over Hunter Biden laptop all about media supressing the story due to the damage it might do to his father's campaign and he was also in Ukraine before the Russian invasion just how messy is that!

Unsealing the inventory list of the MAL raid.

103 documents - 54 "secret", 31 "confidential" and 18 "top secret"

The more alarming thing might even be the 48 empty folders labled "classified"

They were found in a combination of his office and storage room at MAL. There was also something of 12000+ documents that also should have been turned over to the National Archives but obviously of much less importance.

An important note to remember is the timeline in all of this:

In May of 2021 the National Archives Records Administration contacts Trumps team in regards to missing documents.

Late December 2021 NARA are told theres 12 boxes ready at MAL for retrieval.

Jan 2022 NARA retrieves 15 boxes of documents that the agency believes contain classified national security information.

Feb 2022 NARA refers the matter to the Justice Department and the FBI opens a criminal investigation into how classified documents came to be stored at MAL after Trump left the whitehouse.

May 2022 The Justice Department issues a Grand Jury Subpoena to Trump

May 2022 FBI reviews the 15 boxes

Late May 2022 Trumps lawyer sends a letter to the DOJ basically warning them off and laying out the start of their "defence" that anything he brought home was classified etc.

June 2022 Trumps lawyer requests a sit down with DOJ officials, the meeting takes place and more documents are turned over. Approximately 38 more doc's including 17 "top secret", 16 "secret" and 5 "confidential". A few days later a letter is sent to Trumps lawyer telling them to secure the storage room and all boxes moved from the white house while informing them there is no secure location at MAL for such documents and laying out how the documents have been mishandled and misstored.

Late June 2022 Trump team recieves another Subpoena this time for video footage in the storage room at MAL and the footage is turned over.

Early August FBI agents obtain a search warranty for MAL.

August 8th FBI agents search MAL and find the contents just listed above.
