Tottenham Hotspur Close to Loan Deal for Carlos Vinicius

Tottenham Hotspur have tried many different players in their pursuit of a suitable back-up for Harry Kane. Roberto Soldado, Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente have all failed to make the grade, but there is now hope that the club can finally get that desired player in the form of Carlos Vinicius.

According to Alasdair Gold of football.london, Spurs are close to agreeing on a loan deal with a £36.3 million option-to-buy with Portuguese side Benfica for the Brazillian forward. (LWS)Arrow.png.674f17a52cf5c3c371001d2a010683ec.png

That's a bit harsh on Llorente, who was a decent backup for Kane and scored some important goals. It's not easy to be a backup for someone who when fit, is going to play most minutes of most matches. You can tell someone "you'll get plenty of time if he gets hurt" - but there's no guarantee he gets hurt.

It's tough for Spurs, because I think in order to get someone that'll be a quality backup for Kane they've got to get someone with the skillset to be able to fill in for Kane when Kane is out... that can also play alongside Kane as an option B or if that player manages to come into the team and prove themselves by scoring lots of goals.

I think better strikers are going to want a commitment of getting a certain amount of guaranteed time on the pitch, particularly if they do well. They don't want to have to fill in for Kane for a bit and if they score a shitload they're then back on the bench because Kane's a talisman and is (rightly) going to start. But that can be hard to do and keep Spurs set up in a way we've seen with Mourinho before.

I really don't understand.

I think Benfica is betting Vinícius has a good season at Spurs and his sale value increases next summer. That's the only explanation to me.

Tell me more please

Im very happy with this but feels like robbery. Why are we getting him on loan for 3 million with no obligation to buy

We have a 40 million option so can’t even be this. It’s a very strange one

Until you look at the agent involved anyway...

Journalists reveal whether Carlos Vinicius could be ready to face Man Utd for Spurs

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that new Tottenham signing Carlos Vinicius is not expected to be available to feature for the Lilywhites in their all-important clash against Manchester United this Sunday due to the fact that details about his work permit still need to be finalised.

Benfica have officially confirmed that the Brazilian will be joining Tottenham on a season-long loan deal, with the North Londoners having the option to make the deal permanent for €45million (£40.38m) at the end of the season.

Gold reveals that the process of securing Vinicius his work permit could spill into Monday, with the non-working weekend getting in the way.

So the striker is not expected to be in the squad for the trip to Old Trafford, although he will be able to start training with his Tottenham team-mates soon. (The Spurs Web)Arrow.png.ab76262f2c1a0874c9db208337b90321.png

We paid €17M for him only to loan him one season later, why? He was our best striker last season. Imagine loaning your best striker! No one from the club cares to explain. Another very dodgy Jorge Mendes deal.

The man must have astonishing persuasion skills because he seems to effectevely own a handful of clubs and unfortunately Benfica are one of them.

He was the league's best scorer while coming off the bench virtually half of the games he's played in. 24 goals and 13 assists in 47 games but he only started 26 of those games and never took a penalty or free kick. Not bad at all.

Why wasn't he a regular starter if he was our best striker you may ask? Jimenez never started more than 2 games in a row for us... go figure. There must be a very good tactical reason 9_9

Spurs fans can expect a hard working striker here that seems to always get his goal despite not being the most flashy of players.
