This has been going on for a while hasn't it?

Hopefully there's some good news soon for them and a deal is struck eventually.

Only started this season. Just no where near enough subscribers. Needing 3.5 million to make any financial sense and they have 600k.

The most likely solution seems to be a vastly reduced television deal with another company, and all the financial troubles that it'll bring nearly all of the clubs.

After rushing to call off the end of last year, and the money missed out on, to start this (proposed) much more lucrative deal, all the clubs will have missed out twice on television money to go along with the loss of income from fans.

After the League Cup was cut, Marseille are also pushing for the downsizing of the league from 20 to 18 teams.

Whether this is just trying to get a bigger slice of the shrunken television deal, or clearing out more matchdays for the expansions of European competitions.

Seems like a grab for the money that is left, rather than something positive for the whole of French football.

Amazon is in the bidding for the domestic rights for Ligue 1 / Ligue 2.

With Italy's domestic rights now mainly on a streaming service, and some Bundesliga matches in Germany, France could be the next for changing the usual television deal.

“If you are not able to renegotiate player salaries you are risking bankruptcy — it’s as simple as that,” said Pierre Maes, the author of “Le Business des Droits TV du Foot,” a book on the soccer rights market.

“Nineteen of 20 clubs in Ligue 1 are up for sale now,” says one experienced club broker, before adding that Qatari-owned PSG would be, too, if the Gulf state had already staged its World Cup.

Interesting video on the subject.

Didn't know the people that own Man City, now own Troyes as well. Will be interesting to see how much they invest into the team. Will it be anywhere near the Man City/PSG level? Or will it be similar to Jim Ratcliffe with Nice?
