They were all brave in that time, service men, women and the civilians during the blitzed, my mother was petrified of thunder and lighting when I was young and my dad was in the merchant navy after the war and away at sea. She would cower in a corner and ask me to draw all the curtains in our house, I often wondered why because I was only young then but found out from my older sisters that reminded her of the blitze during the war.
