Rewatched the 1996 HBO film Gotti last night, such a fantastic film. So much better than the the 2017 film with John Travolta.

Armand Assante and Antony Quinn(RIP), in particular, were fantastic.

El Chapo is the best series I'd say. El patrón del mar is also alot more accurate than Narcos.

Power was also a fantastic series.

British gangster films used to be on point, in the likes of Snatch, Lock, Stock and 2 smoking barrells and Layer Cake. But they don't seem to bring out great films about gangsters these days over here. Top boy is a brilliant series though.

An underrated series is "Bad Blood" on Netflix. They only brought out 2 seasons and then never continued it for some reason, although I enjoyed it. It's set in Canada.

Another film not mentioned already is Carlito's Way.

Bad Blood is superb, will there be a third season?

El patrón del mar is brilliant. We've spoke about it already though. Have you watched the one about Popeye on Netflix?

Carlos Lehder  was actually released from prison last year.

As for Boston George himself, some interesting recent interviews on YouTube. There’s one on DJVlad that’s over an hour long.

Lehder with his Nazi tats 😯

I love it personally, probably because of the time it came out and the age I was at the time.

But in terms of gangster films as a whole, Goodfellas and Casino will always be my favourites, although these days there are tons of great series.

I also forgot to mention Sopranos in terms of series.

Same, I used to watch documentaries about gangsters all the time and read books about them. Not so much anymore though, apart from the Cartels, mainly because all the best series and books in Spanish seem to be about Cartels and gangsters

I've also read some great books about gangsters from here, such as Cocky(about Curtis Warren in Manchester), Vic Dark(about a bank robber from the underworld in the 90s) or the Gang Wars: a story of the Machester gangs. The one about Manchester is interesting. It was years ago I read that though, easily 16 years ago or so.

American Gangster isn't a bad film itself.

Curtis was a Liverpool gangster mate 😉

I'm not sure whether there will be a third season or not but it's a shame if not as it was very underrated.

I haven't seen that about Popeye yet but I will do eventually mate. There is actually another Cartel series on Netflix now about the Cali Cartel, called el cartel de los sapos. I haven't seen that either yet but it might be worth the watch.

I meant to say Liverpool and genuinely don't even know why I said Manchester xD.

But that fella certainly knew how to make money.

The Manchester gang scene was also ruthless in the late 80s, 90s and early 00s.

Yeah am Salford born and bread myself. 80s was my primary school years. This is when it all started in Manchester. 80s and 90s was mad ay anything. Wars for the doors around town center and stuff. There was literally a killing every weekend. If you looked at somebody or refused somebody entry to a club/bar. You'd be beaten, stabbed or shot at. Or they'd come back and shoot at you on the doors.

I think the cartel series you're referring to. One of the main characters is the guy who played Popeye in the series about Popeye on Netflix. The guy with the tash that is.
