It's a billing issue, he's likely stopped paying for the site. And to be fair given how active this place is compared to TFF, if he has thrown in the towel completely. I don't blame him. Shame. A lot of memories gone.

I would Hypothesise he stopped paying his server invoicing. He certainly wasn't exceeding bandwidth.

Which reminds me, when do we need to start looking at money for this place @Rab?

September is the next round of billing. We're currently around 70% covered for it so no immediate rush. Any additional before then is always welcome as I'm sometimes paying out for Google ads to try and bring in some traffic although I don't think we've seen anyone sign up as result of it yet.

I was under the impression Chazz had paid for hosting until 2018.

I was under the impression Chazz knew what he was doing during his introduction thread.

How much is it? Would it help to crowdfund it? I'm sure most of us would be glad to pay 10-20 euros a year to keep this place running.

Can someone explain to me the whole story? I have no idea what happened to the original site.

All I remember is Chazz taking over. After that I basically stopped reading it.

CHazz took over.

Didn't really commit to the maintenance of the site and/or keeping it as good as it could be. There were so many bugs and glitches which started affecting the site and therefore affected the 'user experience'. Users started getting frustrated and then posted less. These then wouldn't get fixed because Chazz wouldn't contact the hosts of the site.

Didn't respond to queries put to him by us admin on how we can get TFF back to the good times.

Basically a massive cunt who contributed hugely to the downfall of the site.

I'm sad that it is officially dead. Was a Member for near 13 years there. Massive chunk of my online time. Probably split evenly in half with porn sites, especially during those teenage years and a couple of months ago.

Chazz took over the site but didn't put in the time or effort needed to keep it successful. He rubbed a lot of members up the wrong way but threatening them both on the forum and via PM's about a suspension or ban if they didn't follow his orders to a tee and what little activity he did bring was in the wrong areas (i.e - Ice Hockey Fantasy League, bumming up to TheManInBlack who was an idiot etc...)

The site then started having technical issues and he turned a blind eye. The issues got worse which made posting an uphill battle as the site would often crash when you hit submit and looking for ''Unread content'' caused the site to fail. Add into the mix a malware virus that meant that people couldn't see the site at work and it's little wonder why activity fell in the bucket-load.

We decided enough was enough, got this forum up and running and ever since that day TFF's days has been numbered. This is the final nail in a long awaited coffin.

Sounds like Storts' forum

In all seriousness, thanks for the backstory to both you and Cannabis. Its incredible how one person can kill a forum that's been around for 10 years. All good things must come to an end I guess. The community is still alive on here now, its a new beginning and has an experienced owner.

You've all been doing an excellent job in running this place. My only complaint is that the aside from you 2 and Tsubasa the staff doesn't seem to be that active. I can understand that they all have lives but its always good to have an active group when a forum is in its beginnings.

The way I see it is that the site has simply just moved. I see this site as being TFF now and I had actually forgotten all about the other site, it must be 3 months since I looked on there. It's the people who made the forum in the end and since everyone is on here now, it doesn't really make a difference to me. The only downside is all the old material that will be lost and can no longer be looked back on, although there is nothing wrong with a fresh start!

Every 6 months we need to pay £120 towards the server and £60 towards the license. I've probably spent about £50 driving traffic to the site over the few months we've been alive and £30 (I think) towards the country flag plugin. So on average the site needs about £30-40 per month to survive. The server itself is usually £240 per month so our running costs are actually pretty low in comparison to what they should be.

all staff don't have to be active tbf. Like you say, they have lives outside of the forum, and for them the priorities of the forum don't always have to be at the top. Having said that, every staff member has contributed to the success of the site in the past 3 months in their own way.

Myself, Cannabis and Harv are in the top 3 posters of the forum...

I knew it! Harvey is the reason the pub league failed!
