If Bob beats Bill by 10 votes and Dave then beats Bob in the knockouts, Bill should not be able to beat Dave if people are being consistent As long as people are consistent it won't matter and runners up get to have a few more matches so that's a positive. I think these things are better when they are more open - Particularly when a lot of the entrants can see who has voted, but not others. And that can make a difference tactically if people are that way inclined. It's enough to get a general feeling of forum popularity, no need to make it even more personal by showing everyone who does and doesn't prefer them over other people.
