RandoEFC 4,961 Posted March 14 Results - Gameweek Five Casualties (1) Just one of our three surviving competitors fell this week. @Viva la FCB opted not to use the Ajax card still sitting in his back pocket after the first four rounds and instead backed FC Groningen, who could only rescue a point at home after trailing FC Emmen at half-time. Viva ends this round with 5 more points on the board having made 4 correct picks and finished in 3rd place for a bonus point. He extends his lead at the top of the standings, having comfortably outscored Mel81x in this round, but those still kicking might close the gap yet. Survivors (2) In what is now officially the strongest performance of the season so far, we have a pair of survivors who have made 5 consecutive correct picks. The minimum 8 points that will go to the winner here will mark the highest score of the campaign. @Rucksackfranzose was the first to make it to Gameweek Six after AZ Alkmaar profited from two own goals and could even afford to give one back to FC Twente themselves in a comfortable 4-1 win. Also in this final showdown is @...Dan, who saved his Ajax card to play at the opportune moment, first half goals from Neres and Tagliafico seeing the runaway leaders past PEC Zwolle on the road. A timely conclusion to Round Six ahead of the international break. In a surprising turn of events, @Rucksackfranzose's PEC Zwolle succeed where @...Dan's Feyenoord failed this weekend. With Feyenoord the stand out favourites for a victory this weekend, hosting FC Emmen on Saturday, and @Rucksackfranzose having picked them in a previous round, @...Dan appeared to be in the pound seat for this gameweek, but was let down when a 79th minute penalty from Michael de Leeuw resulted in a draw. It was over to PEC Zwolle on Sunday lunchtime to decide whether or not the tie breaker would be needed, and another penalty in the exact same minute of the game proved to be decisive in the home side's favour, Thomas Lam securing 3 points for his side and this round of the Last Man Standing League for @Rucksackfranzose. They have been on a five game unbeaten run starting in Gameweek Two of our competition here, accounting for 9 of the 15 points they've scored all season. They wiped out nine people in Gameweek Three by beating Utrecht, Viva in Gameweek Five by drawing with Groningen and Dan in Gameweek Six by drawing with Feyenoord. So in total, of the 15 people that were eliminated to allow Rucks to win this round, FC Emmen were responsible for 11 of them across 3 different gameweeks.
