Results - Gameweek Three

Casualties (1)

Just the one casualty this week, and quite an unfortunate one as Benfica capitulated to a 2-1 home defeat to Gil Vicente, costing @McAzeem a spot on the podium.

@McAzeem scores 2 points this round, with a slim chance of scoring a bonus point for 3rd place if 2nd place ends up as a tie.

Survivors (3)

@Storts was the first to progress on Friday, as Sporting Lisbon finally delivered for one of their backers in this round of Last Man Standing, a first half goal from Pedro Goncalves enough to secure them the points at Farense. @Storts was denied the outright victory for now, as Porto matched their rivals' 1-0 away win on Sunday night, theirs coming against Nacional, after being backed by champion elect @Viva la FCB and @Mel81x.

That's three points and counting for you each with a guarantee of bonus points to come too. The tie break didn't come into effect this week but you will need to continue to pick a goalscorer and a time of first goal for the randomly selected fixture until this round of the LMS League is resolved.

Preview - Gameweek Four

Below is an up to date Primeira Liga table and the next set of fixtures. This is a midweek round of fixtures which get underway tomorrow (Tuesday) night so get your picks in fast!

Remember to pick:

  • A match-winning team that you haven't used so far.
  • An anytime goalscorer (from any fixture).
  • The minute of the first goal in the randomly selected fixture, Gil Vicente vs Famalicao.

Gameweek Four - Results

Casualties (1)

Sporting Lisbon add @Viva la FCB to their list of victims this week, two late goals only enough to rescue a point at home to Belenenses on Wednesday night. Viva's demise brings Sporting's kill count to a total of 14 contestants over a 4-week period. Incredibly, this is a side that remains unbeaten in Primeira Liga with just a handful of games left to play.

Commiserations to @Viva la FCB, who finishes this round with 4 points (3 correct picks + 1 bonus point for 3rd), bringing his season total to 26 points.

Survivors (2)

It's a head to head battle with what is now certain to be the last round of the season. @Mel81x was the first to book his place in Gameweek Five, but had to wait until the 83rd minute for Andraz Sporar to deal ten-man Boavista a decisive blow in his chosen Braga's 2-1 win. @Mel81x was denied victory as Moussa Marega scored the only goal of the game to secure three points for Porto against Vitoria de Guimaraes, and a place in the final duel of the season for @Storts. With @Viva la FCB eliminated, @Mel81x is the only one left who can steal the Last Man Standing title for 2020-21 away from him, so he should actually be delighted with @Storts extending the competition and giving both of them the opportunity to rack up the points. Both survivors are on 4 correct picks and counting, and guaranteed to take 2 or 3 bonus points each after securing the top two positions. @Mel81x needs 10 points from this round in total to match @Viva la FCB and force a title-deciding playoff, or 11+ points to take outright victory, so he'll need his last remaining rival to make at least two further correct picks to have a chance!

Preview - Gameweek Five

Below are the fixtures for Gameweek Five, which starts on Sunday. Both men have used Benfica, Santa Clara and Porto, the only difference being that @Storts still has access to Braga while @Mel81x has the increasingly dubious Sporting Lisbon card still to play. Please remember also to make your picks for a first goalscorer and a time of first goal in the randomly selected fixture, Nacional vs Vitoria de Guimaraes, in case we need to use these to break a tie.

Anytime Goalscorer: Mehdi Taremi (Porto)

Random Game 1st Goal Time: 82nd Minute

Go big or go home I guess. Really tough to pick one here and I really wanted to pick Lisbon but they've been axing folks along the way.

Tondela draw and Vitoria de Guimaraes lose, so we have a tie break.

Neither Pedro Goncalves (Sporting) or Diogo Goncalves (Benfica) found the net in their games, so whichever one @Storts means, no dice for him in the goalscorer phase. Mehdi Taremi lines up for Porto in 10 minutes, a goal at any time from him will see @Mel81x claim the final round of the season. If he fires a blank, Storts takes the round, with his pick of 81st minute coming closer than Mel's pick of 82nd minute to the opening goal in the 7th minute of Nacional's victory over Vitoria de Guimaraes.

For anyone who's interested, Sporting managed to win this week.

Forgot to wrap this up properly. Congratulations to @Mel81x who wins the round on a tie break - Taremi's Porto goal the deciding factor.

Final scores for this round:

7 points (4 correct picks + 3 bonus points) - @Mel81x

6 points (4 correct picks + 2 bonus points) - @Storts

4 points (3 correct picks + 1 bonus point) - @Viva la FCB

2 points (2 correct picks) - @McAzeem

1 point (1 correct pick) - @...Dan, @DeadLinesman, @CaaC (John), @nudge, @RandoEFC, @Tommy, @Lucas, @Michael, @Bluewolf, @Stan, @Devil, @Pugwash

0 points - @Rucksackfranzose, @Pyfish, @Machado

That's it for the season! Not really enough games left to be sure that we could start and finish another round. Thanks to everyone who took part, I'll be running some sort of Last Man Standing event for the European Championships so keep your eye out for that.

Finally, congratulations to @Viva la FCB on winning the Last Man Standing League championship for a second time. I will fully summarise the season results elsewhere but consistency has been key for Viva this season. A first week exit for him here would have seen @Mel81x nick the title by a single point instead.
