De Gea seemed a bit flat-footed. Looked to be on the side he was positioned and was always stretching once Moreno got to it.

Can't work out who was marking him and let him go.

Lindelof didn't see him and basically tried to hold him back while he was up ahead. I think De Gea may have been able to stop that goal too.

Something about Spanish teams in European competition this last decade isn't there. Real Madrid winning all of those Champions Leagues when they weren't particularly good. Sevilla always winning the Europa League. Villarreal have never been in a European final before? Yet on this evidence, they just look like they know exactly how to win this game. Long way to go yet...

I think Villarreal have gone defensive a bit too soon and it might actually work against them in the second half when Manchester United decide to push for that goal harder.

We'll all agree that Villarreal aren't one of the better sides in Europe. But when it comes to European games, they have the know how and nack. They know all the sly little tricks, by jumping in to tackles. They'll just go down and win free-kicks all day long. We need to stop playing into their hands.

Wow, actually very surprised that wasn't given. Looked like Villarreal's player made contact with Greenwood only, and not the ball.
