Rondon was class for us. Maybe a mistake by him to go to lower standard leagues without the same level of fitness required.

Was better last night in that he put himself about and was a handful in a couple of moments and won some 50/50s which very few of our players managed to do. Still, he's had 10 appearances now and not scored a goal. Not good enough for a Premier League striker. It isn't his fault though, it's once again the recruitment and everyone in the board room allowing all of our previous managers to sign their preferred 29 year old players on five-year contracts knowing that they're unlikely to see in the New Year in the dugout, ultimately leaving us teetering on the brink of FFP this summer.

Rondon has scored in every game for us since I changed my username.

He looked OK today but you could tell he sti doesnt have the fitness levels to play ninety minutes well at this level. There will be times when a big striker with good hold up play that can slow the tempo down and bring in other players will be useful.

However I don't think the side he will get to do that at will be Everton. He's going to be tarred as Rafa's guy. He could score three in the next five and fans will be ready to turn on him.  That's not a dig at Everton fans, he's a by product of being signed by a manager the owner knew the fans didn't want and had a poor start which has influenced opinion.

He's got a bit better in recent games but the fact is he can't run. You can throw him on as a body if you have the other team under siege but we aren't capable of sustaining pressure on teams because we don’t have the legs in midfield to sustain that pressure and we don't have the quality to work the ball back into the box multiple times in quick succession. 

We have too many players who can't run for this league. Coleman, Keane, Delph, Gomes and Townsend in today's lineup. It's bonkers that we let Josh King go on a free at the start of the summer after barely giving him a chance then ended up with Rondon as backup to Calvert-Lewin. But this is what happens when you employ a Director of Football to manage the footballing strategy at your club and then don't let him do his job. Brands should have been the one to decide about Josh King, not Ancelotti who didn't fancy him. Benitez then was allowed to totally overrule him on transfer targets this summer leaving us without a right back. Joke from Moshiri, he is a total clown.

He does move about like an Easter Island head these days but I actually have really liked Rondon as a player ever since he was at West Brom. I think he's a smart player, given that all his career in England he's been relied upon to get quite poor teams into games and make things happen with precious few touches.

The problem is that 1 - Everton shouldn't be bad enough to need to rely on that type of player, and 2 - He is physically past his days of being able to reliably play that role.
