Could be immediate, or at the end of the season. That's huge. He built so much at Gladbach, and now it looks like everything is falling apart. Bit surprised he's still under contract in Gladbach, seems to indicate he indeed went on medical leave rather than actually terminate employment there. If this assumption is correct he would be "ausgesteuert" by now and get his money from pension provider in the mean time. In this case Gladbach would have all the leverage, since he'd be still on tract but not paid by them anymore. "I have things here I couldn't dream of in Gladbach", and "We will look at Mönchengladbach and see which players could be interesting for RB Leipzig." Should go down well with the Gladbach fans.
