Pole Position - Who will do the fastest lap in Q3?

Max Verstappen

The Podium - Who will finish the race in 1st, 2nd and 3rd?

Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc

Random Driver - Guess the finishing position of this week's random driver, Yuki Tsunoda.

12th

Bonus Question - All ten teams have already shown their ability to score points this season, leading to quite a close battle in the lower midfield, but which team will be in 7th place in the standings by the end of this weekend? Current standings attached to help you out:

Haas

I fucked the bonus question up 🤣 I looked at the table. Rather than reading 7th I thought it was best of the rest as in who'll be 4th in the table.

Results - Miami Grand Prix

A close week saw only marginal gains and losses across the field with the full results as follows:

Screen Shot 2022-05-09 at 09.01.00.png

  • The field was split roughly in half between Leclerc and Verstappen ahead of qualifying on Saturday, but the first spoils of the weekend went to @Tommy, @Coma, @nudge, @DeadLinesman and @Whiskey who backed Ferrari's championship leader for pole position.
  • Almost everyone also backed Leclerc and Verstappen to finish in the top two, one way around or the other. @MUFC and @Stan were the only ones to get them the right way around, bagging 10 points, while @Coma, @nudge, @OrangeKhrush, @DeadLinesman and @Whiskey inverted the pair to pick up four points. None of this group correctly predicted Sainz to finish on the podium.
  • @Tommy and @RandoEFC were the only ones not to go for a Max and Charles top two, but both made up for it by picking Sainz on the podium. @Tommy is therefore the only one to bag 5 points for 3rd place to make up for the absence of race winner Verstappen from his top three picks, while @RandoEFC was the only one to pick the three podium finishers correctly, but only bags 9 points with the Ferraris the wrong way round.
  • Everyone predicted Yuki Tsunoda's finishing position around the fringes of the points but his eventual 12th placed finish sees @RandoEFC and @OrangeKhrush pick up the full five points each for the Random Driver pick.
  • Finally, the Bonus Question saw @nudge and @DeadLinesman pick up 5 vital points near the top of the standings, as they correctly predicted that Alpha Tauri would remain in 7th place in the Constructors' Standings at the conclusion of the Miami Grand Prix weekend.

With scores only ranging from 9 to 14 this week, the overall standings see only modest changes:

Screen Shot 2022-05-09 at 09.02.19.png

@DeadLinesman creeps into the overall lead with the joint-highest score this week. @nudge's matching tally of 14 points now sees the top four close within 4 points of each other. The rest of the field will be needing a few 20+ scores to get into the mix from further back.

Any of you bringing updates to Spain? With the budget cap. Am going to give it 3 races, hang in there and see where my position is. Which update? After reading the question wrong about which team will be 7th. Am looking to bring a pair of glasses to the  next race.

Ah, I should have stuck with my initial prediction. Ah well, still not too bad.

Also hats off to @JoshBRFC for being very consistent.

He's been immense. Is there any point in the rest of us continuing?

2022 World Drivers' Champion: Lewis Hamilton.

2022 World Constructors' Champion: Mercedes.

How many different drivers will win a Grand Prix: 6

How many different constructors will finish on the podium at least once: 5

Which driver will have the most retirements this season: Max.

Who will win the qualifying battle in each team:

Mercedes: Lewis Hamilton

Red Bull: Max Verstappen

Ferrari: Charles Leclerc

McLaren: Ricciardo

Alpine: Alonso

Alpha Tauri: Gasly

Aston Martin: Stroll

Williams: Alexander Albon

Alfa Romeo: Valtteri Bottas

Haas: Mick Schumacher

Not good so far. From 16 possible answers, so far only 5 are correct. This part of the league will decide it if it's a tight finish in the table.

High-scoring week already with 8 out of 9 people going with the right pole-sitter (Whoops @Stan). Myself, @DeadLinesman and @Tommy also sitting on a perfect 10 so far as one of those three drivers managed to break their winless streaks against their team-mates in qualifying, thanks to Norris' deleted lap-time in Q2 leaving him 11th. Fine margins, as those five points could have gone to the other six predictors if Norris beat Ricciardo in Q3!

Good luck to everyone tomorrow, especially @DeadLinesman whose predictions I appear to have inadvertently copied to the letter when I made my pre-qualifying adaptations.

Obviously cheating.

Rando, I've sent you an email with the diagrams. Did you receive that?

Results - Spanish Grand Prix

After a couple of cagey races where we've largely cancelled each other out, a few bold calls have been rewarded to yield some high scores this weekend.

Screen Shot 2022-05-22 at 17.28.36.png

  • Qualifying saw everybody apart from @Stan back the right horse as Charles Leclerc beat Max Verstappen to pole. @RandoEFC, @Tommy and @DeadLinesman doubled up with another five points, all backing exactly one of the three named drivers (Sainz, Ricciardo and Zhou) to out-qualify their team-mates for the first time.
  • The failure of both Ferrari drivers to trouble the podium this weekend hit everyone, with 6 out of 9 competitors backing both of the boys in red to end up on the rostrum, severely limiting their opportunity to bag any points.
  • @RandoEFC and @Coma were the only ones to back Max Verstappen as the race winner, bagging them 5 points apiece, while everyone else had him in 2nd or 3rd, seeing them collect 2 points each. @Stan made up a couple of points on everyone else by being the only man to put Sergio Perez among his podium picks, albeit in the wrong spot.
  • The big points on Sunday went to @RandoEFC and @DeadLinesman, though, who doubled up again by taking the punt on George Russell to finish 3rd in the improved Mercedes, bagging them 5 points for that pick itself and an additional 5 for getting the Random Driver position for young George spot on. It pays not to hedge your bets in these situations!
  • Doubling up on both Saturday and Sunday, @RandoEFC and @DeadLinesman dominate this weekend with 25 and 22 points respectively. @Tommy and @Coma hit double figures, @nudge, @OrangeKhrush, @MUFC and @Whiskey take home 7 points apiece with @Stan claiming this weekend's wooden spoon on 4.

Screen Shot 2022-05-22 at 17.28.46.png

The table now looks like this. @DeadLinesman opens up a gap at the front with his biggest score since Jeddah while @RandoEFC has his best race of the season to date by far and rockets up to 3rd place. It can all change so quickly!

See you in Monte Carlo.
