Jack Reacher is back. Not for another film this time, but for a thrilling new TV series for Amazon Prime. While there’s been no specific mention of a number of series being made, it seems likely that Amazon and the show’s producers hope to make Reacher a regular feature on the streaming service. This inaugural season is based on the first Reacher book Lee Child published, his 1997 award-winning debut Killing Floor – a novel Jack Reacher fans will be only too familiar with. You’d have to imagine that the intention is to follow the chronology of the books for as long as the show’s audience is paying attention. Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves though, eh? For now, let’s focus on the launch series… Who’s playing Jack Reacher? We should probably address the big question first. Who is taking on the role of everyone’s favourite retired US Army Military Police Corps Major? The answer is Titans and Smallville star Alan Ritchson. You may also have seen the man in American football comedy show Blue Mountain State, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire or playing Raphael in the recent film version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And before anyone asks – he’s 6’2″. The 38-year-old is physically how many readers will have imagined Lee Child’s no-nonsense, big 6’5″ hulk of a creation in their mind’s eye while reading any of the 26 Reacher novels. And not only is the North Dakota-born actor tall, he’s no stranger to a gym. The imposing Ritchson looks like he’s been chiselled out of marble. As in, it's happening right now. Alan Ritchson took to Instagram to let the world know that filming on Season 2 officially began on Sept. 23, and, with the help of some visual aids, that Season 2 will be bigger than Season 1. Series creator Nick Santora has said that Reacher won't follow the books chronologically, so expect further seasons to bounce around again. Amazon's official logline for the season is a bit more harsh: "When the members of Reacher's old military unit start turning up dead, Reacher has just one thing on his mind — revenge." Hell yeah, dude. Looking forward to this one when released. Quote According to Amazon Adviser, Reacher Season 2 will not be coming to Prime Video in July 2023. The series is not on the list of new releases for the month, which isn’t surprising considering that production only wrapped a few months ago. So, when can we expect the return of our favourite ex-military officer? ScreenRant and MovieWeb have confirmed that Reacher Season 2 will debut in December of this year. An exact date has not been revealed yet, but it’s likely to be announced in the coming months. So, while we won’t be spending our summer with Jack Reacher, we can look forward to some winter action.
