Here's some of the developments so far: - Lee Bowyer confirmed before the final game of the season he had not had any talks with the club owners over a new contract. - A consortium led by Birmingham City supporter Paul Richardson featuring Christian Codoma and former Argentian International Maxi Lopez have expressed an interest in purchasing the club. Maxi Lopez attended the final game of the season. - QPR Manager Mark Warbuton has been rumoured to be the consortium's preferred choice of manager. Mark Warburton has confirmed that QPR will not be renewing his contract but refused to answer questions on the rumours of him managing Birmingham City next season. - Former Rangers Director Donald Muir is also keen to takeover the club and has the financial backing of Keith Harris. He would also favour Mark Warburton to take over as Manager. His bid is less favourable as he wants to purchase the entire club whilst the current owners wish to retain a share in the club. - Former Watford owner Laurence Bassini has publicly confirmed he wants to buy the club and has received a loan of £33 million from previous Birmingham City owner David Sullivan to purchase the club. The loan includes an agreement that should Bassini default payments then David Sullivan's firm would immediately take control of the club. Don't think it's ever existed in all honesty. The Wigan fiasco from two years ago pretty much summed up how worthless it truly is. Wolves have top halved a few times & been in European competition. Villa are Villa. But the last West Midlands side to win an elite trophy? Birmingham City, the league cup in 2011.. Listening to that clip just demonstrates what @RandoEFCsaid in the Everton thread about it being pot luck with who buys your club. What Birmingham fan is going to feel confident listening to that? They're jumping out a frying pan and in to a fire. I just hope hes got a film crew following him as this could be an absolute disaster. The EFL said "sufficient evidence" exists to issue charges of misconduct. Those charges allege that a number people were allowed to act as 'relevant persons' without EFL approval. There are also charges alleging the passing over of control of the club happened without requisite approval. The multiple cases will be referred to an independent disciplinary commission and the EFL have said they will make no further comment. In response, Birmingham released a statement which said they "acknowledge" the EFL's decision and subsequent charges, and confirmed there would be no further comment. The Championship club have been owned by China-based Birmingham Sports Holdings Limited since 2016. They bought the club as Trillion Trophy Asia to become their second successive ownership from Asia, following Carson Yeung's tenure. There was an approach to acquire ownership of the club by Paul Richardson and Maxi Lopez, which came to an end in December, and separate negotiations with unnamed potential investors, but the EFL has not confirmed the identities of anyone involved in the case. It sounds like he knows exactly what he's getting himself in to by immediately addressing the issues with the stadium. He seems to think there's a lot of growth opportunity in the EFL, I hope he's right to be honest, outside of the relegation battle I can't say there's much to get excited about from a neutral perspective anymore. A statement released by Knighthead Capital Management confirmed that the previously Chinese-owned club now has new majority shareholders. It said that its "affiliate company" SCL now has 45.98% ownership of Birmingham City Limited. SCL also has full ownership of Blues' ground at St Andrew's. The statement confirmed: "SCL has completed the transactions with the majority owners of Birmingham City Football Club, including Birmingham Sports Holdings Limited (BSHL), following approval by the shareholders of BSHL. "SCL has assumed responsibility for all operations of the club and will provide the necessary funding to rebuild and set a new trajectory. "SCL is committed to providing the resources, in line with English Football League guidelines, needed to deliver transformational change for the good of the club and the benefit of the city whose name it proudly carries." SCL is a subsidiary of the Knighthead Capital Management Group co-founded by financier Tom Wagner, who outlined his plans for the club in a letter to supporters in May. BSHL had been seeking fresh investment and the chance to offload Blues for well over a year. Last summer former Barcelona and AC Milan striker Maxi Lopez was part of a consortium, including Blues fan and local businessman Paul Richardson, that claimed to be close to buying a 21% stake. That interest was ended in December, although subsequently Lopez, Richardson and Matthew Southall admitted breaching EFL rules over the owners and directors' test by taking control of the club without going through the proper sign-off procedure. Blues, who have been in the Championship since they were last relegated to the second tier from the Premier League in 2011, the year they won the League Cup at Wembley, finished last season in 17th place under head coach John Eustace.
